I don't know about up North, but down South we have statues on our courthouse lawns of C.W. heros. Those on horseback are the ones to look at. If the horse has all 4 legs on the ground, that honoree got through the war unscathed. If the horse has one front leg in the air, the honoree was wounded. And if the horse is reared up, he died in battle. Just a little information to pass along. |

That protocol will guide you through European statuary as well.
If you like that kind of thing I recommend "These Honored Dead: How the Story of Gettysburg Shaped American Memory"
by Thomas A. Desjardin. It's a must read correction of the hype with a fascinating take on the battle of statuary placement. |

Kerrys horse is laying next to the pool, flat on its back, wearing guchi jogging shorts with all four legs sticking straight up in the air! What does that mean? _________________ MOPAR-BUYER |

Hey quit picking on Theresa Heinz Himler Kerry, she can’t help how she looks and that her husband looks like Mr. Ed. _________________ Retired AF E-8

High road, people, always take the high road. Let's not let this thread degenerate down into bashing Kerry's wife. _________________ Clark County Conservative |

I went to Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX and their big rivals are Texas A&M. There is a big statue at Tech of a man on a horse, I don't remember who the rider is supposed to be. But when they put up the statue, they put the ass end of the horse pointing directly at Texas A&M. LOL! |
