Haven't watched those alphabet channels since Walter Cronkite was spinning his perverted propaganda over 30 years ago.
Don't know why anyone else watches them now. |

I can't find anything on this on their website. A google news search also showed nada. Do you remember where the funeral was, and if it was a soldier from the Iraqi theatre? Did they show any film or interview anybody, or was Jennings just being a bastard? _________________

I've been looking all over too. Can't find anyone mentioning it.
I thought Captain's Quarters would have it.
Like I said, as soon as Jennings started on 'a funeral today'
I start yelling some not so nice words and going on a rant.
I missed the location of the funeral. They did not interview anyone
on camera but did run a tape of the funeral as Jennings talked.
Something about their son killed in Iraq.
Jennings said "We spoke to his brother who said he was proud
and his brother was proud of his service in Iraq, which appears to
be the case with so many of the families of the soldiers
who have died, as well as the injured, over 10,000 of them."
That's as best I can remember. |

That's just obscene on ABC's part. _________________

ABC, the All Bullsh*t Channel. I'm curious that they didn't mention that Sen. Robert Byrd is a former klansman and a Dixiecrat supporter when he became point man for delaying Condi Rice's confirmantion. Would that be another example of "balance" or could it be that they too can not find any bias in their reporting? _________________ John Kerry. A Neville Chamberlain for our times. |

I emailed Rush about the Jennings broadcast. Rush can probably
get access to the broadcast tape. I hope he will play it on his show. |

Brit Hume covered the web site solicitation of families who would be holding funerals for soldiers killed in Iraq. It was brief, but he did mention that the solicitation had been removed from the web site. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

I don't watch any of the MSM news programs. they are the cheerleaders of doom. They take glee in having our President & Military fail. They never have a good word of support.
They do not report the thruth they have thier own agenda, so why watch them??? |

I'm a watchdog. I check out the network news if there is something controversial going on.
When ABC deleted the funeral SOLICITATION from their website, I figured one of two things
was going on. Either they decided it was a bad idea after it
was exposed all over the blogosphere OR they GOT a funeral
to cover and so deleted it.
So I specifically tuned in to see which way they would go.
Jennings tagged right on to the end of his coverage of the Inaugural
festivities "but there was a funeral today.........."
The intent was so obviously to contrast the celebrations against the
sadness of the death of another soldier in Iraq.
In reflecting on it, I am thinking they couldn't find a family who would
bash Bush. They could only report the brother's comment of being
proud of his service. Jennings mused that is so often the case with
families of soldiers, almost as if he was perplexed by this.
Some dolts just can't fathom TRUE PATRIOTISM!!! |

(Repeating from my other thread)
This was posted in "National Review Online" this morning:
http://www.nationalreview.com/thecorner/corner.asp
For those of you wondering if it really was ABC that asked on the Internet to find a military funeral to match the Inauguration, wonder no more. Last night on World News Tonight, you could see video of a flag-draped casket in a church, a picture of the killed Marine, a flag being folded over the casket, scenes of grieving funeral attendees, and the Peter Jennings voiceover: "In Rockport, Texas today, just about the time the President was speaking, there was a funeral for a young Marine reservist: 21-year-old Matthew Holloway was killed in Iraq last week by a roadside bomb."
Jennings did have the decency to note how this soldier had felt about his calling: "His brother told a local paper that as much as Matthew wanted to be home, he was very proud of what he was doing in Iraq. And it is something you hear from so many people in the services, including the ten thousand who have already been wounded."
It must have been all the more satisfying to ABC that the funeral was in Texas.

While I have many fine Canadian friends and business acquaintances, maybe the fact that Jennings is Canadian limits his understanding of how some Americans feel about America. |
