There is a way to rid us of Ted Kennedy that maybe might work if we can put enough pressure on all of our Senators.

According to Article I Section 5 of the Constitution of the United States, any Senator can be expelled by a 2/3 vote.

Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member.

Let's look at the numbers.

109th Congress (2005-2007)
Majority Party: Republican (55 seats)
Minority Party: Democrat (44 seats)
Other Parties: Independent (1 seat)
Total Seats: 100

We only need 11 Senators to wake up and help us rid the Senate of the drunken murderous traitor.

There has got to be 11 Democratic Bills being held up that are more important to some Senators than their loyalty to Ted. We just need to find them.

I like the idea, but I don't think you can get a majority of Republicans to vote for expulsion. The DemocRats and Independents would vote no in a block.

RogerRabbit and LimaCharley are right. Though its a pathetic situation, showing they have more loyalty (all of them) to the "Body Politic" than to the country or to their constituents, I doubt you'd get half a dozen votes, more likely not even find a sponsor for the resolution to begin with.

The only way we will lose Teddy from the senate is for the people of Mass. to wake up and vote his fat behind out. Like the folks in N.D. did for Daschle.

JFK dying has really hurt this country. If he would have lived there is no doubt in my mind the New Left would never have gained the power they now hold over the democratic party. those senators wouldn't do anything to stop kerry with all that is proven against him.... but I wish it could be as you listed....

and there should be an age limit on these people .... staying in senate until they die at 100+ is ridiculous!

people just need to start bringing up MaryJo Koepekne (sp?) again... every change they/we get... like everytime he mentions 'drowning' in anything, even if it's his own beer!

(2005-01-2 -- The U.S. occupation force in Iraq is placing unconstitutional restrictions on the free speech rights of Al Qaeda and former members of Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath party, according to Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-MA, who today introduced a resolution expressing "solidarity with our repressed brethren in the Iraq insurgency."

"Just as in our country, flag burning and pornography distribution are the most sacred of forms of protected speech, so in Iraq legitimate car-bombings and beheadings must be protected as political expression," said Mr. Kennedy. "The Bush administration is clearly trying to deny these Iraqis, and their foreign guests, their basic civil rights. This is the most insidious brand of cultural and religious discrimination."

The Senator said he's hopeful that "after the Iraqi people exercise civil disobedience by boycotting this week's national election sham, U.S. forces will immediately pull out so that this sovereign nation can restore the free marketplace of ideas in political discourse -- no matter how incendiary the ideas, no matter how sharp the discourse."

In a direct address to Iraqi insurgents, the Massachusetts Senator added, "Speak truth to power, my brothers."
