This is hilarious!!
The Democrats are acting more and more childish every day.
They elected a pathetic Reid as their Senate leader and now are
whining "they're being mean, make them stop!"

Democrats Demand Bush Halt Attacks on Reid

DAVID ESPO

Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Senate Democrats demanded Thursday that President Bush order a halt to personal attacks on the party's leader, Sen. Harry Reid, and expressed regret they had failed to mount a stronger defense for his defeated predecessor.

"This is a new Democratic party," Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said at a news conference called to release a letter telling Bush to muzzle his "political operatives."

"...It says to the president, `you will not intimidate us'," added Schumer, who likened the attacks on Reid to political knee-cappings.

The letter itself was written in milder terms. "We urge you to keep your word about being a uniter and publicly halt these counter-productive attacks so that we are able to work together in a bipartisan manner and debate issues on the merits," it says.

Bush and the White House have denied responsibility for the attacks.

But Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate, ridiculed that assertion, as Reid did earlier in the week.

"This is the Abu Ghraib defense, that a few renegade soldiers are responsible for their own behavior and the commanders are not accountable," said Durbin, second in the leadership behind Reid. His remarks were a reference to claims by military officials that a few low-ranking enlisted personnel were responsible for the shocking conditions at a U.S.-run prison in Iraq.

The letter to Bush was signed by all the Senate's Democrats except Reid, as well as Sen. James Jeffords, an independent from Vermont.

Reid was named to succeed the defeated Tom Daschle as party leader in December and quickly was attacked as an obstructionist by both the Republican National Committee and National Republican Senatorial Committee.

The RNC distributed a 13-page compilation of criticisms, dissecting Reid's voting record and accusing him of obstructing Bush's agenda over the years. One portion of the document notes that the Nevada lawmaker lives in a costly condominium when he is in Washington - a point that Democrats said has no bearing on policy disputes with the White House.

The attacks are reminiscent of the treatment Daschle received for many months while he was Senate Democratic leader. He lost a re-election campaign in South Dakota last fall, and although Durbin said he and others had defended Daschle from GOP criticism, "we should have done more."

Reid, who did not attend the news conference, said twice this week that Bush could not credibly claim he wasn't behind attacks that were circulated by a party apparatus under his control.

Ironically, Reid and his wife were dinner guests at the White House on Monday night. The senator said Bush had told him he was not behind the attacks.

In addition to sending the letter to Bush, Democrats sought to use the issue as a party-building tool for the 2006 elections.

The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, chaired by Schumer, sought signatures for an online petition asking Bush to renounce the attacks.

Nice find shawa. The only way this story could be improved is if they demanded a halt to attacks on Silky Pony!

It really makes one wonder how people with such a low intelligence quotient manages to be elected. Even Dayton had more sense than this bunch and that is saying a lot.

But, if it were not for them where else would we get our political humor.

Nothing but thin skinned and duplicitous. Another Harry , (Truman to be exact), should be heeded by the Dems. "If you can't stand the heat, then get out of the kitchen." After all the lies they told, they are now BI-itching because somebody exposed the truth about Dingey Harry Reid's voting record?? Really!

Admin note:

Forum folks, the level of anti-Dem acrimony in this forum is becoming troublesome. Please try to keep in mind that this forum welcomes anti-Kerry participants of ALL political stripes. While I can certainly understand the political sentiments of a majority of our membership, let's try to keep the discourse at least civil and refrain from the name-calling and over-the-top invective.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Sorry Admin. I was not referring to all Democrats. Only certain
ones who are too 'dim' to realize that they are making a
laughing stock of their party.
Namely, Kennedy, Kerry, and their leaders
Reid, Pelosi, and Dean who are the epitome of and cause of
(as Zell Miller says) a national party no more.
I have friends who are Democrats and although we disagree
on some issues, I respect the fact that they are patriotic first
and foremost and truly love their country.
I can tell you they are embarrassed at the antics of the left-wing of
the party. So much so that two of them are becoming Independents.

We also need to recognize Joe Lieberman. He is a decent principled guy who is troubled by the Reid, Kerry, Pelosi wing. There are others like him too, but Joe stands out. We have some less than likeable Republicans, but that is another gig.

So I fired off this off on Sen. Dick Durbin's contact page.

Quote:
Dear Senator,

I realize you could care less what someone from Arizona thinks, however its a small world and someone in Az can and do indeed have family, friends and associates everywhere these days. One other thing to keep in mind is registered voters who split the ticket.

Hence you represent allot of individuals in this small world. Anyone speaking out and garnering press coverage is heard throughout the world and assumed as speaking for Americans.

When you use the term "the Abu Ghraib defense," I have to assume you realize this is being published and seen worldwide. IS that your intention to keep such a horrid image in the world's mindeye?

If that is so, why? Do you think you are helping or hurting out military in harms way by the refreshing of such a horrid image. I'd like to think our elected officals had some semblence of gray matter that they could utilize to form any other meaphor to make a point. More importantly it would be nice to assume you harbor a more heartfelt concern that what is uttered does not stir anger and resentment refreshing hostilites towards our troops.

Please Senator think before you attempt to score points at OTHERS expense.

You are so right about ticket splitting. An interesting question from
Russert to Kerry on Meet The Press:

Quote:
MR. RUSSERT: The 15 Democratic senators who won across the country all had more votes than you in each of their respective states. Why do you think that is?

Which means that in 15 states Democrats split their ticket, refusing to
vote for Kerry,
while still voting for their Democrat Senator.

We had the opposite problem in PA. People voted for Snarlin' Arlen Spector the RINO and split for sKerry. We need a little common sense adjustment here. I do not know if the dead folks in Phila or the dogs and cats split theirs.
