Jerry Corsi is coming right up (4:30 EST) interviewed by our own Webmaster, Scott Swett, and his co-host of "The inquisition", Tim Ziegler. No doubt his soon to be released "Atomic Iran" will be a topic of conversation. |

I thought our 3 Swiftees acquited themselves well and was happy to see Steve Gardner both in attendance and getting the notoriety he deserves. John was his normal eloquent self as was Admiral Hoffmann (once he got over his bit of emotion induced nervousness). I hadn't yet heard Bill Franke speak and I thought he was terrific, almost as though he was born to do podium work. In short, BZ! and congrats (again) to ALL the Swiftees for this well-earned recognition and award.
Radio host/blogger Kevin McCullough made note of a "Blogger Breakfast" hosted by CRC/SVPT...
Kevin McCullough wrote: | My favorite part of the earlier portions of the day had to include the Blogger Breakfast put on by the CRC/Swift Boat Vets - in an express order to thank bloggers for helping them get the facts on John Kerry out to the public - when the MSM was acting in such complicit ways to prevent the flow of information.
Swift Boat Vet "In Cheif" - John O'Neil had been on my show multiple times in the election cycle finally had the chance to speak with me in person.
"Kevin, I have to say," O'Neil told me, "We owe you a big debt for all that you did to get the message out. And I want you to know that we were proud to be on the Kevin McCullough Show."
No Mr. O'Neil - it is you and the courageous 260 who stood tall to tell the truth about John Kerry that this nation owes you the debt of gratitude!

Well, this was just great! Watching this tribute to the Swifts and POWs, and also acknowledging our support and pride in all our honorable Vietnam vets was just a JOY to watch. I really enjoyed the stories and the further comments about the kerry issues made by all the Swift speakers – to listen to John is always enjoyable; he is just brilliant -- and to also get to hear from the Admiral and from Franke one gets to see the strength and dedication that was behind the scenes. They could have spoken for hours as far as I was concerned… Adm. Hoffmann addressed the media term “discredited Swiftvets” and threw out an intense final challenge to Cahill to prove wrong any of the information in UFC – and I appreciated that! The Sat. Night Live spoof was such a surprise and a well-deserved chance for the Swifts to further express their feelings (and ours!) with some final shots at the senator – after all they’ve been thru, making that video must have felt really good! (at the end the “credits” flashed so quickly but I think it said paid for by the Swiftvets and “one rich man in Texas,” or something like that... )
Thanks to CPAC for honoring the Swifts with this well-deserved acknowledgment and award -- and for an unforgettable joyful evening! |

That spoof was not done by the Swift Vets--it was actually done by Saturday Night Live. Did you notice the play on names? They would use one Swift Vets first name and another Swift Vets last name. There is also another spoof that was on the Emmy awards show and it is just as funny! That one was a take-off on George Washington and I believe it says that it was paid for by Swift Oarsmen for Veracity. |

Thanks for the correction - guess it all came on so fast that I didn't realize if it was a spoof about a spoof or what (I don't watch SNL anymore)! That makes complete sense, as some of the elements in it were "surprising," shall I say... but thoroughly enjoyable!
A few comments I've found on the event:

"CPAC 2005: Courage Under Fire," Matt Margolis, 2/18/05

Tonight was a great night. ....This was truly a night to remember. Zell Miller was to present The Swift Boat Veterans For Truth with the Charlton Heston Courage Under Fire Award. Of course, the Swifties in attendance each received standing ovations when they were introduced. When Zell Miller spoke before the presentation of the award, he commended the Swifties efforts, and for having the courage to "call a lie a lie." (…con’t)
(includes audioblog of intro to Zell, Zell's speech & John O'Neill's speech)

2/18/05 – “Franken Explodes in SwiftVet Fueled Rage on Michael Medved Show”
Al Franken reprised his role in "Trading Places" and went ape today on the Michael Medved show when he arrived at Michael's table on radio row for a brief appearance to find John O'Neill of SwiftVets fame sitting next to Medved prepared for a "debate" with Franken. …(video included...con’t)
(The short video of Franken is hard to hear amidst all the noise, but at one point he’s talking about kerry being a war hero and says, “…and I see your people here going oh yeah, he’s not a war hero – yes he was!!!” And then he asks, “What was your military record?” You can’t see who he is addressing and you can’t hear the response, but could it possibly be that he is asking that of John O’Neill?? … I must surely be mistaken…-B.)
-----------------------------------
“CPAC: Medved-Franken-O’Neill Kurfuffle,” James Joyner, 2/18/05
“…..Apparently, Franken was not expecting Oneill to be there and was apoplectic over having been set up to debate him without preparation, and refused to do so….
Amusingly, O’Neill seemed oblivious to the whole thing, working on his notes the entire time:
Michael Medved fans – CPAC part II, 2/19/05
“….After Franken threw down his chair and stomped off pouting, Michael continued talking with Swift Vet John ONeill… “

Does anyone know if C-Span is going to run the Swiftboat tribute again? I was so disappointed to miss seeing it. |
