Who would you rather fight hand to hand, Ted Nugent or Toby Keith? It's a fair question. Toby Keith played semi-professional football and is, after all, the “Angry American.” But Nugent is a crazed wild man who wears loincloths and kills all of the meat he eats with semi-automatic weapons. So maybe Nugent hand to hand, but Keith in a pistol duel, right?
Hopefully, you'll never have to spar with either of these tough-as-nails musicians, but you will get the chance to see them perform at Mohegan Sun Arena this Friday for one night of conservative-leaning country rock.
Nugent, who has become a household name for his searing country rock guitar skills and his Tarzanesque stage antics, as well as his gun-loving conservatism off stage, will open the show.
Keith, who is currently the top-selling act in country rock, has gone from down-home songwriting to fierce patriotism since September 11th. His newest record, “Shock'n Y'All,” displays similar jingoistic themes, but Keith's songwriting capabilities and his willingness to speak his mind cannot be denied.

I've got a two problems with this reporter.
I don't think Ted Nugent hunts with semi-automatic weapons.
He's a bow-hunter.
Toby Keith is a patriot! And yes, he speaks his mind!
Jingoistic--a term liberals use to put-down extreme patriotism and beligerant foreign policy.
And LIBERALISM IS A MENTAL DISEASE!! |

Well, jingoism IS "extreme patriotism" as defined, but they mis-apply it to tar anyone who might dare to assert a traditionally accepted sense of patriotism, national pride or anti-"globalist" sentiment...and particularly when it emanates from "unenlightened" denizens of those "red states". |

Toby's Unleashed CD was basic down-home all-American values stuff, along with the Angry American song. Yeah, that IS the American way.
So what is "jingoistic" about being a regular American?
BTW, I heard Toby is a Democrat. Must be a Zell Miller kind, rather than a Ted Kennedy kind of guy.
It's all good. _________________ DLI 78

It's all good!!!!
Quote: | Courtesy of The Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)
American Girls and American Guys
We'll always stand up and salute
We'll always recognize
When we see Old Glory Flying
There's a lot of men dead
So we can sleep in peace at night
When we lay down our head
My daddy served in the army
Where he lost his right eye
But he flew a flag out in our yard
Until the day that he died
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me
To grow up and live happy
In the land of the free.
Now this nation that I love
Has fallen under attack
A mighty sucker punch came flyin' in
From somewhere in the back
Soon as we could see clearly
Through our big black eye
Man, we lit up your world
Like the 4th of July
Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it's gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin' her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you
Brought to you Courtesy of the Red White and Blue
Justice will be served
And the battle will rage
This big dog will fight
When you rattle his cage
And you'll be sorry that you messed with
The U.S. of A.
'Cause we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way
Hey Uncle Sam
Put your name at the top of his list
And the Statue of Liberty
Started shakin' her fist
And the eagle will fly
Man, it's gonna be hell
When you hear Mother Freedom
Start ringin' her bell
And it feels like the whole wide world is raining down on you

I LOVE IT!!!
But it was too jingoistic, said the lofty Peter Jennings. Remember when
Toby Keith was scheduled to appear on the the ABC Fourth of July Special.
Jennings strongly objected, and Keith was axed from the show.
BTW, Isn't our 4th of July celebration supposed to be jingoistic? |

I just can't understand how 9/11 didn't turn each and every one of us ' jingoistic.' How can anyone that feels annoyed by that behavior call themselves patriotic?! |

The liberal leftists can!! Jingoism is anathema to them!
It is not politically correct in THEIR world. Don't you know America
is always wrong and that's why we are so hated.

I know - right after 9/11 I lost a few friends, or lets just say walked away from some, because their immediate reaction was 'we brought it on ourselves' or, 'it's our own fault.' I was so appalled that I couldn't associate with them any longer. I realized that if they were shedding any tears it was only for the dead - and not also for the attack on our country. |

How's this for jingoism:
Tax cuts for the rich!
Cuts in SS and Medicare.
Old people eating dog food.
40 million without Medical Coverage.
There werte no weopons of mass destructuion.
Algore really did win FL, Bush was selected, not elected.
Kerry would have won Ohio if the election were fair and Ken Blackwell hadn't cheated.
President Bush is a draft dodger.
And so on........ Some of these are new and some are the same old drivel.
Jingoism is in the ear of the recipient. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69 |

I love the Angry American. I get goose bumps every time I hear it.
Hell, even the liberals I work with were mighty pissed after 9/11. They're still libs, but they fully supported our war in Afghanistan. They question our need to be in Iraq. I can understand that even though I disagree. They haven't said a whole lot since everybody and his brother in iraq got purple fingers.
Bush is winning despite what Rather says every night. (I'm assuming he is stall chanting his same old crap since I don't watch him anymore.) _________________ DLI 78
