A seadog once skippered a Swift Boat
Cambodia on Christmas he said
Now he usually got caught in a misquote
So he made up a story instead
In his memory he said it was seared
President Nixon’s fault he injected
Not knowing it made him look weird
Cause Nixon was not yet elected
Caught in the lie, he dug in his heels
And made up less plausible tales
His cargo was special, possibly seals
Not whoppers these, but whales!
Running for office, he now changed his mind
And bragged of three hearts and two stars
He forgot the real sailors he surely maligned
And continued to write false memoirs
Now when it was over and he knew he had lost
He considered the kit and caboodle
A seadog for office should never be tossed
But too late he learned he’s a poodle _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |

Participating in a limerick thread, I posted this on another site and thought some here might enjoy my first attempt at creativity. _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |

For better or worse, this my first...
attempt at a comment in rhyme.
Many thanks for your ditty.
T'was really quite witty...
and considerably longer than mine |

For the first one yours too was great
I've always heard you don't count length
More from you we all await
Another not lacking in strength _________________ '58 Airedale HMR(L)-261 VMO-2 |

Here's to that gigolo Kerry,
Got rich off the women he'd marry...
He slandered our guys,
With outrageous lies...
And was ripe for the Swiftees to bury.... |

Mr. Poole,
No offense to your poetic skills, but my Poodle takes exception to the stereotyping of his breed.
The only beret this Poodle will wear is a green one! |

One small nit-pick - Nixon was elected in November 1968. Kerry's problem was Nixon was not the president in December 1968 as he claimed and blamed for his "seared, seared in my memory" Christmas in Cambodia trip.
Kerry's stories remind me of "bar stool warriors" who have such a low opinion of themselves that they have to manufacture heroics to augment their low esteme of themselves.

I think he means the little toy poodles. I take yours may be the larger less docile type. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69 |

Pres. Nixon was inaugurated in Jan 1969. By then the Tet and other offensives had been solidly stopped while McNamara and LBJ's escalations were being so savagely demeaned by the very youthful liberals who now occupy influence and power positions. Yet the Libs still call this Nixon's war. Richard Nixon was the man who under the most diffucult circumstances brought a close to it. The Libs of the Ted Kennedy Ilk then defunded it and lost the thing in dishonor to themselves, not the men who served.
I forget the song name, but the words were:
Lyndon Johnson told the Nation
Have no fear of Escalation
We are trying everyone to please
To help save Viet Nam from the Vietnamese.
The Liberals are still at it. They haven't learned. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69 |
