"I urge the president to take seriously the Constitution's charge and to engage the U.S. Senate - both Republicans and Democrats - in a process of genuine consultation in order to identify and to ultimately confirm a consensus nominee," the top Democrat said, in a statement posted to her web site."

This is ridiculous. Hillary is putting HER interpretation on what the Constitution says.
The President nominates the person HE wants for a judicial appointment, usually of a philosophy matching his own.
The Senate will advise and consent. i.e. they will examine the President's nominee before the Judiciary Committee and then a full vote of the Senate to either Consent or Deny.
Nowhere does the Constitution say that the President must consult with the opposing Party BEFORE making his nomination!!

It is time to rally those who have worn the uniform. In my state we went blue by just a few thousand votes. We have over 500,000 Veterans we have not even begun to tap into. We have two democratic senators. If we can call on the 500,000 to stand up and say we did not wear the uniform for your right to obstruct. Stop the obstruction today or we the 500,000 Veterans of WI will have you replaced on your next election day.

Drive the Libs nuts, nominate Mark Levin or John Ashcroft. They will go so apoplectic they won't be able to vote. Kennedy would pass out.

I believe the nomination process is, in and of itself, a "consultation."

What democrats really want is to pick 'em.

They are vetted thoroughly by the Presidential staff and nominated as is specified in the Constitution. The Senate looks at the nomination and says yes or no. That's all. They are not involved in the selection. Do you think a Liberal like sKerry would be consulting the Senate leadership if he had been elected. No way.

Here is a thought: Can the president make a Supreme Court appointment during the recess? Wouldn't that cause the Dems to have a hemorrhage?

Oh yes it would be an in your face move that would rally the right wing base much more effectively then a Dean rant does for the left.
