I know I have to learn to accept the reality (not there yet) that “the media” – us and everybody else -- will continue without end to support the enemy and plaster their “success” in every possible venue and promote their propaganda until the end of time (car bombs, suicides, kidnaps, physical destruction & stories of our set backs, low morale, death, mistakes, etc) – and our politicians, partners with the press in this regard, continuing to spread & facilitate terrorist propaganda by continuing to speak of the enemy’s strengths and our weaknesses – it’s tough to maintain one’s good humor in light of this reality.

There is so much information available about how we are fighting back – how the Iraqis and Afghans are fighting back – every single day there is a success for us and a defeat for “them” – there are so many stories that the press would be unable to carry them all each day -- if they made the effort. What a blow it would be to the enemy if they did NOT make the headlines –if a massive propaganda campaign was started that involved all forms of media and pounded daily on the facts of the DEFEAT of the enemy – that focused on the strength of the forces against them and showed them for the insane, vile criminals that they are. I know this sounds simplistic, but still, I think it would make a big impact in the battle of wills. They just thrive on these daily headlines....

Seems to me that it is a simple, easy choice for any media outlet to make. You might report on a car bomb, in passing, without pictures, without videos -- but you might also say “in other news” and do a bigger report on the capture of an enemy cell – with pictures/videos. You either spread propaganda for the enemy or against them. It’s a matter of choice. Simple. (?)

In taking just a brief look today at the website of the Multi-National Force-Iraq, I pulled up the following great successes that make me very proud of the hard work of our military and also give a glimpse into the strong will of the Iraqis that are working with us for the love of their country:

An Iraqi Air Force maintainer from Squadron 23, signs out equipment from the tool room to Technical Sgt. Mirko Sampson, 777th Expeditionary Airlift Squadron, Advisory Support Team. Sampson is one of 35 instructors teaching more than 100 Iraqi Air Force students how to fly and maintain the C-130 Hercules. (U.S. Air Force Photo by Staff Sgt. Suzanne M. Good post B. I think you have voiced most everyone's frustration with the situation.
And I think you have shown very succintly just whose side the media is on. It sure isn't ours any more than they can help it anyway.
Thanks for the words. There is solace in comiserating.
