It seems that John McCain has labeled the ad "dishonorable and dishonest." But I do not recall him using similar words against the $62 million worth of anti-Bush 527 ads that have already run.
What problem does he have with 527s today that he didn't have several months ago? _________________ Frenchy's News and Commentary Blog

O'Reilly measures EVERYTHING by whether one is willing to go on his show and face him. He said if SwiftVets will come on the show he will "listen". Here is an opportunity I hope somebody like RADM Hoffman will welcome.
It appears the entire media doesn't comprehend that Swifts worked in packs. were berthed together, the functions of superiors in the command chain, etc. so it credits only the opinions of those on Kerry's two boats. (On Hannity, Susan Estrich kept making the point that Green Beret Rassmann served on Kerry's boat. Huh? Wasn't he just getting a ride?) |
(a) just tell O'Reilly what was said on Hannity/Colmes:
... we don't care what you think, we're not part of any political organization, we don't work for Bush, and like it or don't, what has been said is documentable. I loved the dirt simple, no flourish way it was delivered.
(b) media? comprehend? research? huh?
(c) Susan Estrich seems unable to visualize fifty yards, also (HALF A FOOTBALL FIELD?) |

His problem, in my opinion, is that this is a direct result of what the McCain-Feingold bill cannot address. Which makes me happy. This isn't costing "me" a dime (except what I voluntarily contributed, which was NOT to a political party ... I hope)
by the way: do we all have to stop posting 60 days before the election? |

I would like to say how much I admire and respect the Navy veterans who put all this together, and all the veterans and citizens who are helping. It obviously cost a lot of time, money and energy. I know you do it because you care about this country. When I saw the ad my heart swelled with pride, not just for the SwiftVets but for all America, that somehow we could stand up for what's right against the forces of deception and lies that threaten to overwhelm us in these trying times.
I know it feels bad to be maligned and discounted, even when it's by the sneaky and biased liberal media or other denigrators. SwiftVets, don't be discouraged by these attacks. They are the ones that look bad every time they lie and twist the facts. You are counted as heros by all patriotic Americans. Your ad and your interviews are great! If I had any money at all I would donate it to SwiftVets. Since I don't, please be aware that the SwiftVets are in my prayers every night as you continue your great battle to expose the truth. God bless you and God bless America!

Locally, in Youngstown OH, ch 33 interviewed the president of the UAW at the GM Lordstown plant. He stated he was a vietnam vet and he found the ad horrible. He also stated that there were a lot of other vietnam vets in the plants who felt the same. He said some were republicans who were now thinking of voting for Kerry because of this ad. But, the reporter did not interview any of these other vets who allegedly said that. Made me wonder if there were any. |

Sounds like the same yak yak yak we get when police chiefs come out and and say their officers support this or do not support that. The chiefs are political figures that usually do not care what their officers think and the officers best not buck the system. I don't know how unions work so I can't say how they are represented but you are probably close to the truth. I can believe a person who thinks Kerry is the best thing since sliced bread would think the ad is horrible, vet or not. The people at lower levels may feel differently but their views are usually ignored because they have no access to wide ranging media.
Kerry talks a lot about the two Americas and I think he is partially right. There is the view of America that is fed to us each night by the media giants and totally believed by half of the country and the reality that the other half lives and works in. The irony of the SwiftVets is that they defended the right to free speech in America which is now being used to dismiss them as loons and liars. Free speech that can reach across the country is not cheap these days as we are witnessing now. It was once said that God fights on the side with the biggest artillery; in this fight it is nationwide media access that will decide the outcome of the battle.
But a few men once pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor to defend God given rights, not privledges handed down by government officials. The SwiftVets are doing this today right in front of our eyes and it is an amazing event to watch unfold. Those few men of the past eventually gained victory but at a terrible personal cost for many of them. It's up to the non-SwiftVet members of the board to start thinking of all we can do to prevent the same from happening to these heroes from the past that have stepped up to the plate once again. |
