"U.S. Sen. candidate Van Hilleary said he plans to challenges Jane Fonda to a Tennessee debate."
~snip~
"If Jane Fonda will not cancel her unpatriotic tour, I would dare her to do one thing: bring her tour to Tennessee so that the al Jazeera cameras can see how Americans really feel."

Van is his first name and he was a congressman from Tennessee. I know someone who knows him and thinks he is great. I would certainly back his sentiments if I were in Tennessee!!! He is a staunch conservation Republican and I'd love to see him take her on! Here is something from his bio that I just found on his campaign web site that shows his military background:
Quote: | Prior to his service in office, Hilleary had a distinguished military career. In the United States Air Force Reserve, Hilleary served two volunteer tours of duty during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm. While in the Persian Gulf, Hilleary flew 24 missions as a navigator on C-130 aircraft. His skills and dedication to duty earned him six medals and the Outstanding Unit Ribbon.
Hilleary used that military expertise on the Armed Services Committee, where he was a leading voice to equip our servicemen and women with the leading edge technology they use today in the War on Terror.
Van understands the importance of national and homeland security. He championed Tennessee’s firefighters, law enforcement and emergency personnel in Congress, hosting training summits and winning numerous grants for training, equipment and personnel for the men and women who keep our neighborhoods safe. |
