Rush spent quite a bit of time talking about today's special election to
replace Rob Portman (R) in the 2nd US House District of Ohio. I had
read on various blogs that the Dems were very excited about the
possiblity of picking up this seat because their candidate was a USMC
reservist who had served in Iraq. This is a heavily Rebublican district
that Rob Portman easily held in 2004 by a 70-20% margin.

Rush exposed the Dems candidate (Paul Hackett) for what he really
was today on his program. He is John Kerry reincarnated. He opposed
the war and said so, but said he believes that we must stay the course
since we are there. On the other hand, he called the POTUS a "SOB"
and a "chickenhawk" and considers him more dangerous to national
security than OBL. At the same time, he ran ads that would lead the
viewer to believe that he supports President Bush (a clip of whom
appears at the beginning of the ad) and NEVER mentions that he is
the Democrat candidate. Rush has a link to the ad on his website.

The race was very close, but Jean Schmit (R) eventually won by a
4% margin (52-48%). It was closer than it should have been, not
only because of Hackett's deceit about his true political leanings, but
also because Governor Taft (R) has a 17% approval rating and Hackett
was able to associate Schmit with Taft, his tax increases, and his
scandal-ridden administration. BTW, Hackett has similarities with the
other side of the 2004 Democrat ticket because he is an extremely
liberal, smooth-talking, personal injury lawyer like John Edwards.

Although this race should be a wake-up call for the RNC and the Ohio
Republican party, it shows that the Dems could not win a very minor
special election into which the DNC put a lot of effort, money, and
time, even sending in our friend Max Cleland to campaign for a pretty
attractive candidate who was attempting to run to the right of the
Republican and who was trying to use his military service to fool the
voters into thinking that he was someone other than he was.

If only the SVFT had been around to reveal the truth about another
war veteran who was trying to capitalize on his military service to win
an election, while at the same time he was slandering the CIC of the
brave men and women who are still in harm's way in Iraq! Our nation
will never be able to repay the debt we owe them for exposing the truth
about John Kerry and preventing the disaster that would have resulted
from having him in the White House and in charge of the GWOT.

Thank you for posting that. Have been worried that a$$ may win. Didn't know his background was an attorney. Sheds somewhat of a different light on his motivations. Don't want to be called a conspiracy theorist, but as one can now see, there are some similarities of what happened in Vietnam. That is, as far as antiwar personnel embedding themselves within the ranks. It damn sure happed in Vietnam. Some have since written about it. It is a wake-up call.

MSM polls say one thing, while actual votes say another. They can't seem to come up with a win regardless how much $$$ they throw towards a candidate and free air time they give away.

Didn't know he was a lawyer, either. Reservist? Let me guess, JAG, NLSO? Staffer?

If you think that was low, keep your eye on the beast. I dont think shes taken a side on any issue, and she wont-just double talk like her hubby. Watching her trying to act as though she had something to do with decisions under bubbas rule makes me sick, and Its going to get worse!

Especially watch out for her trying to cozy up to military personnel! She will actively seek out desk jockeys like this Hackett, or scum like Kerry like soldiers, to stand and support her. I fear that this joker is not the only one of that ilk to be serving. As a matter of fact, I heard something about that Riekoff, guy who supported Kerry, running his own blog. He is another one desperate for a political career. She doesn't like our military, or at least those who love this country, but she is willing to use them as a tool to win elections!

Scrappleface sez::

After Ohio, Dems Map 50-State 'Virtual Victory' Plan
by Scott Ott
(2005-08-04) -- Encouraged by their close loss in this week's special election for a vacant House seat in Ohio, the Democrat National Committee (DNC) has mapped a 50-state "virtual victory" strategy for 2006 and 2008.

"It feels so good to almost win," said DNC chairman Howard Dean. "We now believe we can rally our base around the hope of down-to-the-wire losses in traditionally Republican districts coast-to-coast."

While the concept of virtual victory is familiar to the party that nearly won the presidency in 2000 and 2004, this is the first time the DNC will stake millions of dollars on advertising explicitly promoting narrow defeats. The ad campaign is tentatively titled "Close Counts."

"People need something to believe in," said Mr. Dean. "And while it's tough to believe that a party with no coherent platform can return to power, most progressives still believe this is the party of the little guy. Of course, the little guy usually loses, but we want our major donors to be able to say, in the words of Maxwell Smart, 'missed it by that much.'"

In related news, America Coming Together, the progressive fundraising group backed by billionaire George Soros which failed to make a difference for Democrats in swing states in 2004, today announced it would disband and form a new, leaner organization with the narrow mission of handling money transfers from wealthy contributors to political strategists and consultants.

"America Coming Together fulfilled that mission in 2004," said Mr. Soros. "As a businessman, I focus on results. So we have moved the goalposts to reflect the results we achieved."
