I only have a K-12 education so I must have missed the course on interpreting what politicians are saying when they write letters or make speeches.
August 9, 2005
Mr. xxxxxx xxxxx
xxxx x xxxxx Rd
Manitowoc, Wisconsin 54220
Dear Mr. xxxxxx:
Thank you for taking the time to contact me. I would like
to take the opportunity to address your concerns.
On July, 1, 2005, Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day
O'Connor announced her intention to resign once a replacement
has been confirmed. I have the utmost respect for Justice
O'Connor. History will remember her as not only the first female
Supreme Court justice, but also for her balanced approach to the
law and as someone who conduced herself with honor. She served
admirably and I wish her nothing but the best.
Like you, I believe it is imperative that federal judges meet
the highest standards, both personally and professionally. When a
vacancy occurs on the federal bench, senators from that state or
region often make recommendations to the President on potential
nominees. Once a recommendation reaches President Bush, the
Federal Bureau of Investigation conducts extensive background
investigations of any potential nominee before the President
submits his or her name to the Senate. Upon nomination, a
candidate is then subject to a hearing before the Senate Judiciary
Committee, of which I am a member, and consideration by the full
Senate before he or she can be confirmed. As you can see, there is
a stringent set of requirements that ensures the quality and
competency of our federal judges, and as a member of the
Judiciary Committee I take my responsibility to scrutinize every
Supreme Court nominee very seriously. I believe that Supreme
Court justices should not be ideologues, and should be committed
to fairness in interpretation.
On Tuesday, July 19, 2005, President Bush announced the
nomination of Judge John G. Roberts, Jr. to the Supreme Court. I
hope that he is well-qualified and approaches legal issues with an
open mind and no partisan political agenda. I also hope that the
upcoming hearings on this nomination show that he is someone
who will represent the views of people all across America,
someone who will respect the Constitution. I will examine his
record very carefully to determine whether he meets this standard.
I have assembled a bipartisan task force, made up of 11
legal experts and community leaders from Wisconsin, to examine
the nominee and provide my office with advice and counsel during
this process. Additionally, on July 21, 2005, I met with Justice
Roberts to begin my own process of evaluation. You can be
certain that I will keep your views in mind as the nomination
process moves forward. Again, thank you for contacting me.
Sincerely,
Herb Kohl

This is drivel. It makes no clear point and was probably written by a staffer with no legal background, foundation in civics, or ability in writing coherently.
It translates as Bull dung. _________________ 8th Army Korea 68-69

This is the letter I sent to Senator Kohl.
Dear Senator Kohl:
Please quickly vet Judge Roberts and move to the Senate floor for an up or down vote and get on with the business of the people from Wisconsin.
Sincerely,
XXXXX XXXXXXX
My letter was less then 30 words. Senator Kohl’s reply is about 500 that does not even address moving Judge Roberts to the Senate floor for an up or down vote or getting on with the business of the people from Wisconsin.

This Senate Judiciary Committee sees themselves as the gate keepers to the Senate floor. It is up to this hand full of obstructionists to determine what nominees get their blessing before they are voted on by our elected representatives. What really frosts me is that both WI Senator's Feingold and Kohl are on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Once we pass a WI voter ID bill, these two losers will be gone.

Just another letter without any substance and I am sure signed by a machine. Unless you were a $2,000 donor to their campaign, don't expect personal service.

Just two years ago Judge Roberts was vetted prior to becoming a Federal Circuit court Judge. How much work is their too update a back round check that is only two years old. Eleven researches for just one Senator seems excessive. There are 18 committee members and my K-12 education taught me 18 x 11= 198 with this kind of man power they should know where Judge Roberts has his hair cut, buys gas, and has his dry cleaning done and every other little detail about his life. There is no reason for them to delay a Senate vote accept to obstruct.

I'll tell you what it says - it says:
Quote: | This candidate is ROMAN CATHOLIC in case you didn't know and the president has tried to pull a fast one on us but we will NOT let him get away with it!
There is NO WAY that this candidate could EVER interpret the law in the way our liberal Supreme Court has always done in the past during my lifetime and he needs to be stopped and I will do everything in my power to expose him for the religious fanatic that he clearly is and he will never make it by my nose for constitutionalism and they will NEVER TAKE ROE V. WADE AWAY FROM US!
NEVER! NEVER! NEVER!
Oops, sorry, I drooled a little on your letter.
My apologies for the tear-stained machine signature as well,
Your Senator

New letter I sent to WI Senators Kohl & Feingold,
The vetting of Judge Roberts,
Senator Kohl “I have assembled a bipartisan task force, made up of 11 legal experts and community leaders from Wisconsin, to examine the nominee and provide my office with advice and counsel during this process”.
18 committee members, and if each one has a task force the size of Senator Kohl’s that is a collective task force of 198. That is a whole bunch of people turning up every rock looking for dirt especially considering Judge Roberts was fully vetted just two years ago. With the addition to all the media resources and special interest groups looking at the details of his life there isn’t anything left too find out about Judge Roberts? If the 18 committee members delay a up and down Senate vote they deserve the obstructionist label they have earned and as a WI citizen I will do all that I can personally do to see that our two obstructionists are replaced. _________________ Defender of the honor of those in harms way keeping us out of harms way.

Heh heh heh.... good answer, CWV!
I can't wait to ge my "auto-responder" from my Dim-bulb Senator. The other one is a Republican and conservative and favors constitutionalists, so I'm not too worried about him. _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~
