"A 1995 memo from a top terrorism prosecutor warning that a directive by Clinton administration Deputy Attorney General Jamie Gorelick "could cost lives" is being concealed by the 9/11 Commission.
Compounding the cover-up - Gorelick herself was a prominent member of the Commission and refused to recuse herself from parts of the 9/11 investigation that covered the now notorious "wall" she erected that prevented intelligence and law enforcement agencies from cooperating in the war on terror."

And this from Washington Times April 15, 2004
~snip~
"Commissioner Gorelick is in the unfair position of trying to address the key issue before the commission when her own actions are central to the events at issue," Mr. Sensenbrenner said. "The public cannot help but ask legitimate questions about her motives.
"Testifying before the commission is Ms. Gorelick's proper role, not sitting as a member of this independent commission," he said."
~snip~
"If the commission doesn't take this issue seriously, undoubtedly a large segment of the American people will see its findings as incomplete and partisan," said Mark Levin, president of the Landmark Legal Foundation, which also has demanded that Ms. Gorelick step down."
~snip~
"Commission Chairman Thomas H. Kean and Vice Chairman Lee H. Hamilton both dismissed the calls for resignation.
"Of course not. That's a silly thing," said Mr. Kean, who said Ms. Gorelick has followed the same rules as every other commission member and has, in fact, been one of the most "nonpartisan" members.
Ms. Gorelick was appointed to the commission by Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle, South Dakota Democrat, and former House Democratic leader and presidential candidate Richard A. Gephardt of Missouri."
~snip~
"Mr. Levin said her continued participation "taints the whole process."
"The commission wasn't even aware of her memo until John Ashcroft revealed it," Mr. Levin said. "She is hopelessly conflicted.
"The fact that she's a commissioner insulates her from scrutiny, and that's the problem," he said. "She should not be a commission member, she should be a star witness."

I have been saying this since Gorelick got her appointment to the commission. Here is the real news update. If you look into the Okalamaha City Bombing you will find her name all over that bombing also. Her role was to cover up and withhold evidence from State Prosecutors. Now how is that for a link between 911 and Okalamaha City bombing. What else do we not know and has been covered up by the Bill and Hillary Administration. |

Jamie Gorelick in the Hot Seat
Published 4/12/2004 12:07:29 AM
Republican staffers on the 9-11 Commission are looking for a way to place commission member Jamie Gorelick before the body she sits on to explain the Clinton Justice Department's seeming lack of interest in counter-terrorism activities.
According to a Republican commission staffer, some are outraged at the continued leaks by Democrats on the commission, which are being coordinated to embarrass upcoming members of the Bush Administration set to testify before the commission.
The latest example was a memo from the spring of 2001 issued by the Department of Justice, with newly confirmed Attorney General John Ashcroft signing off on it. Ashcroft is scheduled to testify on Tuesday, April 13th. The memo, according to Democratic 9-11 staffers who leaked it late last week, shows that the Bush Justice Department did not have terrorism on their list of seven top priorities, which included corporate fraud prosecutions and civil rights protections.
What the Democratic staffers fail to mention is that those priorities were set by outgoing Attorney General Janet Reno, and reflect priorities that were put in place by former Deputy Attorney General Gorelick in her time at the Department.
"[Gorelick] knows better than anyone about what was going on at Justice in the later days of the Clinton Administration. She had close ties there," says the staffer. "In closed-door meetings she has defended the Clinton people. How can they claim that Ashcroft and his people could do much of anything six weeks into moving into the building?"
For months, Republican staffers have been warning the White House and Senate leadership about the Democratic political operatives on the 9-11 Commission, and their plans for election-year games with the fact-finding on the terrorist attacks. Yet the White House has been seemingly surprised by how politically charged the hearings have been.
Now Republican staffers would like to play some politics as well.
"Gorelick should be testifying during these hearings; she should not be up there creating the appearance she played no role in what happened on 9-11, because she definitely did," says the staffer. "The Clinton folks had eight years to do something about Bin Laden. They did nothing. The Bush people had eight months. You'd think judging by the hearings that it was the other way around. We have to hit back." |
