CNN founder Ted Turner visits North Korea
SEOUL (AFP) - CNN founder Ted Turner arrived in the North Korean capital Pyongyang, North Korean official media reported.
"Robert Edward Turner, chairman of the Turner Foundation INC. of the United States, and his party ... arrived here," said the Korean Central News Agency, monitored here.
South Korean officials said Turner was visiting the Stalinist state to discuss a project to turn the De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) dividing the two Koreas into a nature reserve.
He will visit an international environmental forum on the project here early next week, they said.
The North and South Korean armies face each other across the heavily fortified DMZ which was set up after the end of hostilities in the 1950-53 Korean War. |

Hopefully Mr. Turner will be arrested on his return to the USA. There is the little matter that it is ILLEGAL to travel to North Korea. A country we are still at war with.
Mr. Turner apparently didn't check his facts before leaving on his journey to visit the man that had eighteen "holes in one" the first time he played golf.
I can think of no better picture than Ted Turner in handcuffs with a bag over his head manhandled onto a military flight to Gitmo.

Just think about it... let HIM walk throught the DMZ to make it a nature reserve
.

.
Thought enough? There are so many mines there that it would take at least a decade (maybe a slight exageration) sweeping them before a nature reserve could even be considered |

Not as long as there are kooks out there. Turner is a media icon, so that answers the question "why was this reported in the first place?" _________________ Peace is acheived through victory |

The crap ends Mr. J when the Government arrests Americans who travel to Iran, Cuba, North Korea or other banned travel locations and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.
We made this mistake during Vietnam and we cannot allow it to happen again. The example needs to be the jail time they recieve.

He'd be pushing up daisies if he tried to turn it into a nature reserve. North Korean daisies. And besides Ted Turner has an enormous ego problem. |
