I just saw on Drudge where Sean Penn's attempt to join the rescue effort in NOLA met with difficulties, first, they forgot to put back the plug in the bottom of his stiff and it immediately began to take on water. Second, the engine wouldn't start. According to the article, Penn was heckled by a bystander because his boat was filled with members of his "entourage", including a personal photographer, leaving little room for refugees. Sounds like a case of some self aggrandizement to me. Countless private citizens have and are bringing their craft to help in the evacuation of NOLA without fanfare or a personal photographer to record them. |

*snort*
How very Hollywood.
I can't *wait* for the first TV Movie of the Week to come out of this. Heck, if West Wing is still on the air, I bet they have their Democrat President act heroically in a similar crisis.
Yeah, right. |

dang wwIIvetsdaughter,
you beat me to it
this is just too good.
Quote: | EFFORTS by Hollywood actor Sean Penn to aid New Orleans victims stranded by Hurricane Katrina foundered badly overnight, when the boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.
Penn had planned to rescue children waylaid by Katrina's flood waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.
The actor, known for his political activism, was seen wearing what appeared to be a white flak jacket and frantically bailing water out of the sinking vessel with a red plastic cup.
When the boat's motor failed to start, those aboard were forced to use paddles to propel themselves down the flooded New Orleans street.
Asked what he had hoped to achieve in the waterlogged city, the actor replied: "Whatever I can do to help."
With the boat loaded with members of Penn's entourage, including a personal photographer, one bystander taunted the actor: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?" |
Spicoli and his mission. hehe

He did play a army infrantyman who decides to grab a vietnamese girl and take her along on a mission. This was so everyone in his platoon had someone to have sex with. Typical bash the vietnam soldier movie. _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."
