This from Hugh Hewitt's blog (supposedly the basic information is substantiated on the Red Cross's website):
Quote: | The Fox News Channel's Major Garrett was just on my show extending the story he had just reported on Brit Hume's show: The Red Cross is confirming to Garrett that it had prepositioned water, food, blankets and hygiene products for delivery to the Superdome and the Convention Center in the immediate aftermath of the hurricane, but were blocked from delivering those supplies by orders of the Louisiana state government, which did not want to attract people to the Superdome and/or Convention Center. Garrett has no paper trail yet, but will follow up on his verbal confirmation from sources at the highest levels of the Red Cross. |
UPDATE: read about it here: http://www.radioblogger.com/#000967
Earlier today Nancy Peloci authored a letter to Dennis Hastert in which she was complaining about the "bicameral committee" set up to do the official Congressional investigation, in which she said:
Quote: | "The American people want the truth as to what happened in the wake of Hurricane Katrina and how we can now best meet the needs of the hurricane victims. The Republicans missed an opportunity today to meet both those goals.
"Congress has an opportunity to lead - to hear the cries of the people touched by this disaster and put aside our differences to address them. But Republicans are afraid of a truly bipartisan investigation that can get to the bottom of why the federal government's initial response failed.
"It is long past time for Republicans to rise above partisanship in addressing this crisis. People who have lost everything and are in dire need of food, income, and housing assistance cannot wait for multiple congressional committees to act." |
So, in other words, buried down in all that noble sounding verbage is the fact that she wanted to restrict the committee's investigation to "the federal government's [ONLY] initial response."
BOR (I know, I know) even reported tonight that a "gag order" has been put out to the LA NG to not talk about the time line and events leading up to them being activated for the disaster. |

The commission needs to be protected from becoming a Komishion.
Keep Hillary very far away.
Keep Jamie Goreleck, very far away.
Keep James Carter, very far away.
Keep ALL celebrities, very far away.
The only person I can think of to head the commission would be a democrat, his name would be the Honorable Zell Miller, along with Colin Powell, Rudy Giuliani, Bill Cosby and to spice things up..... I don't know, maybe Jack Black (the comic).
One thing has crossed my mind with both the Governor and the Mayor, why did they, and does she not want the Fed's operating in the theater of their disaster?
My sense is they have something to hide, considering the history of corruption in the state, maybe they have a whole lot to hide.
I give odds of 3 in five the Mayor is the more honorable of the two and might be willing to turn 'states evidence' against the Gov.
There are allot of dead people and allot of finger pointing, lets see where the chips fall. A ugly underside of the American Democratic party is about to see the light of day.
Drug test the lot of them. Do it now.
To be sure a sizeable proportion of the affected population is given drug tests by the blathering democratic/socialist govt... lets test those in charge. |

Absolutely, completely, right on the numbers Uisguex Jack!
I think the Mayor is a total loose cannon, but I also think he's the more honorable. |
