FBI FREEH UNLOADS ON CLINTON: 'CLOSETS WERE FULL OF SKELETONS'
Thu Oct 06 2005 14:07:50 ET

Louis Freeh Speaks for the First Time About his Terrible Relationship with the President

Former FBI Director Louis Freeh says publicly for the first time that his relationship with President Bill Clinton – the man who appointed him – was a terrible one because Clinton’s scandals made him a constant target of FBI investigations. Freeh discloses this and many other details of his dealings with the Clinton White House in a new bombshell book: 'My FBI : Bringing Down the Mafia, Investigating Bill Clinton, and Fighting the War on Terror' -- ste for release next week.

Freeh has taped an interview with Mike Wallace and CBSNEWS '60 MINUTES' to be broadcast Sunday, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.

MORE

In the book, “My FBI,” he writes, “The problem was with Bill Clinton -- the scandals and the rumored scandals, the incubating ones and the dying ones never ended. Whatever moral compass the president was consulting was leading him in the wrong direction. His closets were full of skeletons just waiting to burst out.”

The director sought to distance himself from Clinton because of Whitewater, refusing a White House pass that would have enabled him to enter the building without signing in. This irked Clinton. “I wanted all my visits to be official,” says Freeh. “When I sent the pass back with a note, I had no idea it would antagonize the president,” he tells Wallace.

Returning the pass was only the start of the rift. Later, relations got so bad that President Clinton reportedly began referring to Freeh as “that F…ing Freeh.” Says Freeh, “I don’t know how they referred to me and I really didn’t care,” he says. “My role and my obligation was to conduct criminal investigations. He, unfortunately for the country and unfortunately for him, happened to be the subject of that investigation,” Freeh says.

In another revelation, Freeh says the former president let down the American people and the families of victims of the Khobar Towers terror attack in Saudi Arabia. After promising to bring to justice those responsible for the bombing that killed 19 and injured hundreds, Freeh says Clinton refused to personally ask Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to allow the FBI to question bombing suspects the kingdom had in custody – the only way the bureau could secure the interviews, according to Freeh. Freeh writes in the book, “Bill Clinton raised the subject only to tell the crown prince that he understood the Saudis’ reluctance to cooperate and then he hit Abdullah up for a contribution to the Clinton Presidential Library.” Says Freeh, “That’s a fact that I am reporting.”

The most unsavory of those investigations was the one concerning Clinton and Lewinsky. The White House intern had kept a semen-stained dress as proof of her relationship and a Clinton blood sample was needed to match the DNA on the dress. “Well, it was like a bad movie and it was ridiculous that…Ken Starr and myself, the director of the FBI, find ourselves in that ridiculous position,” he tells Wallace. “But we did it…very carefully, very confidentially,” recalls Freeh. As he explains the plan in the book, Clinton was at a scheduled dinner and excused himself to go to the bathroom. Instead of the restroom, he entered another room where FBI medical technicians were waiting to take a blood sample.

Freeh says he was determined to stay on as FBI director until President Clinton left office so that Clinton could not appoint his successor. “I was concerned about who he would put in there as FBI director because he had expressed antipathy for the FBI, for the director,” he tells Wallace. “[So] I was going to stay there and make sure he couldn’t replace me,” Freeh tells Wallace.

On Hannity tonight, Newt Gingrich said in no uncertain terms that, if the report is true, Clinton committed a felony by asking the head of a foreign country for money. Colmes weakly fought back by saying that Rove was a worse criminal for outing Plame. What a loser you are, Allan.

Ken Starr, come back from the beaches of Malibu and do your duty!

Mr. Freeh suffered the dysfunctional Clintons for eight years, with Janet Reno as his boss. That had to be Hell!!!

I can't believe that 60 Minutes would trash Clinton. Wonder how much of this interview ended up on the cutting room floor.

I never waste my time watching 60 mins. , but I am curious as to how they will manipulate Freeh with the questions. They certainly won't let him just trash Clinton. Somebody else watch it and let ME know!!

Well this is going to be interesting as surely Mr Freeh will now be villified ad nauseum. I allmost feel sorry for the Clintons..... well that's a stretch, I don't feel sorry for them at all, Hopefully they will land in jail one day.

However

If this is the best they got.... I do feel sorry for Colmes.

My money is solidly on the prospect that Valarie Plaine was Judith Millers source for many, many years. Hopefully we can get them both in jail sometime soon.

Alan your such a Girllleeeyyy Mannnnn!

He has been worshiping at the Clinton Shrine far too long to stop now. By the way here is a message for Mr. Colmes, "Joe outed his own wife in his public bio years before Carl mentioned her name". When he mentioned her as working for the CIA and as his wife the former Valerie Plame.

I watched this exchange and Colmes was pitiful. I think he is just paid to play the part of a stupid liberal on TV, and he is a great actor as he does it so well.

Typical Clintonoid tactics. Vilify the messanger, change the subject and attack a straw man. The subject is Slick Willy just as the man says. The Clintonistas remain the most corrupt bunch to ever occupy the WHite House.

If it comes to making a judgement on the veracity and character of Freeh vs Clinton, I will go with Louis Freeh, no question.

Whatever would make you think crossing the Clinton's would get someone villified? Rolling Eyes

Daniel Benjamin, a former Clinton counterterrorism official, said Freeh is "factually wrong." Clinton "pushed the crown prince quite hard," and eventually won Saudi cooperation that led to indictments in the case.

"Freeh has been clearly discredited by the 9/11 commission and the congressional joint inquiry," Benjamin insisted.

Well, it is Sat. evening and the Clintonistas are in full CA mode putting the heat on SeeBS with of all the upright spokesmanship of Sandy Burglar. All of Der Schlickmeister's sycophants call Louis Freeh a liar. Well, Well who are we to believe here. As for me, I don't want to hear any more parsing from a bunch of lapdog lackeys of the Clintons. I may have to buy this book and make up my own mind. If BJ Clinton had been an honorable man with reputable people around him it would be another question.

CLINTON AIDES BATTLE FREEH OVER '60 MINUTES,' BOOK
Sat Oct 08 2005 20:04:07 ET

Under strong pressure from former President Bill Clinton's advisers, CBS's ''60 Minutes'' has agreed to read a statement denying an explosive charge being made on Sunday nght's program by former FBI director Louis Freeh, the WASHINGTON POST reports.

In the statement, Samuel ``Sandy'' Berger, Clinton's national security adviser, challenges Freeh's assertion that Clinton failed to press Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah to cooperate with an investigation of the 1996 bombing of Khobar Towers in that country, and used the occasion to ask for a contribution to his presidential library. The Saudis made such a donation last year _ six years after the 1998 meeting.

Berger, who was at the meeting, said: ``The president strongly raised the need for Saudi officials to cooperate with us on the investigation into the attack on Khobar Towers at the time when the FBI was attempting to gain access to the suspects. The president did not raise in any fashion the issue of his library.''

Clinton spokesman Jay Carson said he told CBS's Mike Wallace that he had supportive accounts from five other former officials at the meeting, including those briefed about a private conversation between Clinton and Abdullah.

``The fair journalistic question is why they didn't call and get comments for their story from people who were in the room, such as Sandy Berger, and why they took until Friday afternoon to get that done,'' said Lanny Davis, a former White House lawyer, who tried to persuade ''60 Minutes'' producer Jeff Fager to allow him or another Clinton spokesman to appear on Sunday night's segment.

Carson, who called the Freeh book ``a total work of fiction.''

I imagine Sandy was the most credible spokesman the Clinton's could dig up. Everyone else who knew them are busy with their book publishers.

Sandy is the one Clintonista with a reputation for stuffing things into his pants instead of the other way. He only pleaded guilty to a Misdemeanor, so I guess this makes him the most upright of the bunch.
