Soon after my Grandfathers death the Ward Churchill controversy came about and found it particularly disgusting a person would go to lengths to pretend to be something they are not. My Grandfather was a stoic man who served honorably in WWII and thought by not discussing his Native American heritage it would be beneficial to his children, whereas Ward Churchill invented a past for self aggrandizement. The two people could not be further separate as human beings. Ancestry is important in our ability to maintain the strong family unit and we should acknowledge and revere Native American writers who are able to display the truth even though they have been told to tow the line. That line being dealt by the leftists who think they know best for all, their place in this world we live. Fact is many Native Americans know they are still great warriors and Sheppard’s of the land and to hear their truth spoken is very refreshing. Especially on this day we celebrate as Columbus Day.
Quote: | Columbus was a scientist, much more than a sailor or an explorer. The world was his laboratory, the earth his beaker, and his own heart the Bunsen burner that kept the vision alive. Great men are compulsive and determined. Weaker men become discouraged and quit. To start out on a ship with a group of ignorant, mean mercenaries, not knowing where you were going nor how long it would take you to get there, was an act of transcendent faith and sheer guts. You know the men are likely to mutiny. You know you are taking the ultimate risk—and all for the sake of your own passion to know the truth. |

Great timeline RB, I used too watch the hydros race in Columbia Park where he was found. Its been an interesting story to follow for us up here in the northwest. The Tribes up here fought hard to get them bones buried, but if you believe the Oct. 15 1999 finding, he's Asain! Its been a fun story but I wonder if we've got to let the Asain Americans have casinos!
