A judge has issued an international arrest warrant for three U.S. soldiers whose tank fired on a Baghdad hotel during the Iraq war, killing a Spanish journalist and one other, a court official said Wednesday.
Judge Santiago Pedraz issued the warrant for Sgt. Shawn Gibson, Capt. Philip Wolford and Lt. Col. Philip de Camp, all from the U.S. 3rd Infantry.
Jose Couso, who worked for the Spanish television network Telecinco, died April 8, 2003, after a U.S. army tank crew fired a shell on Hotel Palestine in Baghdad where several journalists were staying to cover the war.
Reuters cameraman Taras Portsyuk, a Ukrainian, also was killed.
The Spanish judge said he issued the arrest order because of a lack of judicial cooperation from the United States regarding the case.
U.S. officials insist the soldiers believed they were being shot at when they opened fire.
Following the Palestine incident, Secretary of State Colin Powell said a review of the incident found that the use of force was justified.
In late 2003, the National Court, acting on a request from Couso's family, agreed to consider filing criminal charges against three members of the tank crew. | http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051019/ap_on_re_eu/spain_us_journalist_death
Every day I thank God that our president had the good sense not to allow the US to join the World Court and all it's liberal European Moonbats.
This is bad enough. This Spanish arsehole judge is probably a closet member of Al Qaeda. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

Judge Santiago Pedraz is like any other typical liberal European moonbat.
They run for cover and wus out when confronted with a real threat like Al Qaeda, then they use the courts to go after the very people fighting their battles for them.
Judge Santiago Pedraz is nothing more than a girly-man with dilusions of self importance.
If anything bad comes to our boys due to this judge's actions, the USA should severe all diplomatic ties with Spain, institute a complete boycott of all Spaniard products, expel all Spanish diplomats, and deport anyone holding a Spanish passport. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

This is a individualist who volunteered to go there and what a suprise that he could be killed. The Spanish and the rest of the Europeans do not have a clue what reality is about but live like California in the land of La La
I think it was the actor Errol Flynn's son that was a journalist during Vn and he went into Cambodia and was never seen again. Even on the Fox news and the other channels, the people never leave the green zone. How can they report on issues that they never see and the American people think the news is the truth and the reports are accurate? _________________ Terry Boone PCF 90

I think I read in the whole story that Spanish law allows for this if the incident isn't investigated in the country where it happened. So a US Military investigation doesn't count? _________________ "The most terrifying words in the English language are: I'm from the government and I’m here to help." Ronald Reagan |

I think they were aiming the at the Al Jazeera Press HQ and forgot to take into count windage. Damn the bad luck.
Well the Worldwide Media has been taking potshots at our troops for a long time and placing them in danger. We are long overdue for a little payback.
If it were up to me I would designate foreign press HQs as free fire zones.

Sorry, but what did they expect when they chose "The Palastine" Hotel for their hospitality arrangements, protection from Hammas?
They even had to make a political statement in their lodging arrangements and now they want to cry about it?
Let's not forget that Spain was the first to abandon ship when they were attacked. If those soldiers ever go to Spain, it will be to show them what a real military soldier looks like, one that is still killing future Spanish terrorists for them.
