Anyone watching this? So far, this special seems to be fact-driven; one comes away understanding the local and state officals failed miserably. The Press is demonstrated to have failed also, with false reports that NOLA escaped Katrina's fury while the City was actually drowning along with the rumormongering the MSM engaged in in the aftermath. I loved it when a headline from the "paper of record" the NYTimes was shown declaring that NOLA dodged a bullet. Blanco and Nagin IMHO come across as fools who failed to acknowledge Katrina's imminent danger. Blanco is quoted before the strike as praising W for his efforts to prepare Louisiana. Nagin's quotes clearly show he was way over his head and instead brays like a petulant spoiled child.

The Louisianna politicians are beyond incompetent. I would go so far as to say negligent in the deaths of many. As I B pointed out on these pages prior to the storm hitting in response to my 'placing the people in the superdome is idiotic post', the levees will not hold if Katrina hits. Fact is, those politicians have been given money to shore up the levees for decades and have spent it on other projects and lining their pockets. Of course just as the government will never do an accurate investigation into 9/11, because of damage politically, they will steer clear of this, afraid of the political fall out.
