Quote: | Is Kirk Lippold, commander of the ill-fated USS Cole, the latest career military officer to be victimized by the political miasma now surrounding the controversial Able Danger intelligence program? Although Lippold lacked “the specific intelligence” to prevent the October, 2000 al-Qaeda attack on the Cole, his superiors did not.

I'l never understand why the Bush White House is so reluctant to kick over the rocks where the sins of the Clintons hide. AbleDanger is one big rock.
Cmdr Lippold biggest burden is that the truth reveals the Navy's failings. It's an unfortunate but honorable position he shares with Lloyd Buecher of the Pueblo and Capt McVay of the Indianapolis. Billy Mitchell holds that place for the Army. Capt. Turner of the Lusitania does the same for the Admiralty. _________________ "KILL ALL THE LAWYERS!"

I believe Bush falls on the sword almost daily to cover for his fathers failing. _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."

Mr. Bush does not have a liberal mindset on BLAME. Mr. Bush merely sees a situation for what it is. If something needs fixing, he does not go on a witch hunt because blame assigning is counterproductive, he merely fixes the problem and puts it behind him so that he can address the next problem with a clear mind. This is the "Buck Stops Here" attitude that a competent leader needs. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |
