Marin county--You mean left wing headquarters USA. The state that throws rocks at fire trucks displaying the flag--Berkeley.
Great speech by Bush,we are so very lucky to have this GREAT PREZ. I watched the entire speech till the Dems answer from the Gov of Virginia.
Sheehan-I've read that her entire family from parents, uncles, aunt and grandparents have disowned her. She's always been a left-wing operative. |
Hey, hey, hey, now that is my commie lib governor!
Seriously though, I did watch it because me and my hubby voted Kilgore and go figure... a RED state with a Dem governor. We thought we got away from that when we moved from Chicago. Anyhow, Kaine's speech was for the most part moderate, not offensive, and rather consilatory. I do not dislike him to be honest, he appears to have many good qualities. He is a former missionary who was taught to serve and that is why he went into public office. On that note he also is one of the few Dems that actually came out and spoke about being a Catholic and was able to rally votes. Consider how skerry had lost many Catholic votes. It is amazing Kaine did rally those votes here. I will give him a chance...he seems to have more character than the former commie lib gov who BTW is planning to run for POTUS. He is a jerk. But as for Kaine, I try to be fair, after all, not all dems are commies. Former Sen. Zel Miller and also there is Sen. Nelson from Nebraska. Too bad they are far and few in between. _________________

There were two women escorted out of the House Gallery. Sheehan was told to cover up her shirt. She refused and was restrained and escorted out.
The other woman, wife of Rep. Bill Young (R-FL), wore a "Support Our Troops" shirt and was asked to leave. She did.
Both examples of political 'demonstration' are prohibited by House rules. Sheehan chose to escalate the thing to the desired press-salivating level. Mrs. Young simply obeyed the order to leave.
An instructive difference.

Another unheralded eviction at the State of the Union message involved two star members of the House of Representatives, Reps Jesse Jackson, Jr. and Cynthia McKinney. Here's the story from the New York Post via PowerLine
Quote: | This hilarious account is from the New York Post's Page Six gossip column. The item is titled "Booted From Forbidden Aisle":
Quote: | Reps. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) and Cynthia McKinney (D.-Ga.) got to the floor of the Capitol early and staked out seats reserved for Democratic senators. "Since none of these Democrats over there [in the Senate] filibustered Alito, why can't we have these seats?" Jackson argued. "That makes sense to me," McKinney replied, according to Roll Call columnist Mary Ann Akers. "Jackson went back to his office, leaving McKinney to protect the seats until showtime," the D.C. weekly reports. "Three hours after Jackson got back to his office, though, his cellphone rang." It was a "frantic" McKinney saying that sergeant-at-arms staffers were kicking her out of the seats. Jackson rushed to the floor and argued for "a few tense moments," but Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) prevailed. Jackson told Roll Call he needed his face on TV.... |
I think one of the Republicans' real problems is that it's too easy to look good compared to the Democrats. For the country's sake, that isn't a high enough standard. |
"Since none of these Democrats over there [in the Senate] filibustered Alito, why can't we [Congresscritters] have these seats?" Jackson argued. "That makes sense to me," McKinney replied..."
The logic displayed by these people is truly remarkable. Beam me up, Scotty. And hurry.
