In Japan they called them Benjo ditches. Subic ???????

When I was stationed there in 68/69, it was uneuphamistically called $h*t creek. During dry season, especially, the aroma crossing the bridge tended to get rather overpowering, then would come the rain season and everything got flushed out into the South China Sea.
