Ya gotta remember FJKerry isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He thinks since NYC and Boston are closer to Greenland that they'll be affected first!

What a thinker.

Amos: so it's the tidal wave from that rapidly melting ice that's gonna sink 'em, huh? And I was about to write it all off with the explanation that sKerry just didn't understand the basic concept of "sea level"... (assuming that he probably never had a science course beyond the 4th grade).

But I suspect that Schadow is much closer to the truth. So the $64,000 question then becomes: Why did/does he appeal to so many people outside the provencial mind-set of the self-focussed NE?

Well, I expect he can don an Indian headdress with the best of them in the manner of Warren Harding or, in the case of Ohio, "Kin I buy me a huntin' license here?" Rolling Eyes

During the 1950's, we were assured the ice cap was growing so much each year that, by 1975, Canada would be iced over. I was not too busy during 1975 to notice that Canada did not ice over and have taken such predictions with a grain of salt ever since.
Now that Kerry has pronounced the flooding as a fact, I am very comfortable it will not happen.

It is my understanding that this big blue marble upon which we live out our brief lives has been going through major climatic changes ever since the "big bang".

The arrogance of a few alarmists to think that humankind has changed, or could change the climate of the earth is asinine.
Mt. St. Helens and Mt. Pinetubo either one or both spewed more pollutants into the earths atmosphere in the last 20 years than man has since the discovery of fire.

A hundred million years ago, give or take 20/30 million, the dinosaurs lived on earth. The climate changed and the dinosaurs died.

30 million years ago, give or take a few million, the saber-toothed tiger and the mastodons lived on earth. The climate changed and they died.

The climate is changing as we speak, and more species are dying and there is nothing man can do to save them in the long run. They can put them on "endangered species" and allocate habitat at the expense of other species, but, in the long run, they will go the way of the dinosaur, unless they can adapt to their changed environment.

MHO
or my 2cents worth
whichever

ps It is also my understanding that scientists have recently discovered that Mars is getting warmer..........ya reckon that some of my shaving cream propellent migrated up there, too?

Since I live relatively close to Mt. St. Helens, there is an interesting phenomenom going on there. Different areas in the blast zone were left alone to regrow naturally while other areas were managed by man, to the best of our knowledge.

The areas left alone are recovering faster and growing better than the man managed ones.

We can never manage nature. Nature will manage man. Hopefully, we can adapt as we grow to what happens upon the earth naturally.
