Great article!!
“I was told by an Iraqi that only two things could get rid of Saddam, the United States or Allah. I will never forget that,” Charter said. “An Iraqi officer told me that if we just up and left the country would implode. They are so grateful for us being there and toppling Saddam. Even the Sunnis, who benefited under Saddam, thanked us.”
As for the missing weapons of mass destruction, Charter says that depends on how you define WMD.
“I was not part of the 2003 invasion and I heard the WMD debates. You have to ask what your expectation was. Did you expect to find a huge cache of nuclear weapons or a fully functional chemical warfare plant?” Charter said. “Ask a Kurd what a WMD is. A vial of poison gas is a weapon. Killing 200 Kurds is a mass killing. To them that's a WMD. It's undeniable Saddam had them.” |

Quote: | “Their true strategy is to wait everything out and provide a constant disruption,” Charter said. “The countries surrounding Iraq would like nothing better than to take a chunk of the country. There is a lot of oil in Iraq. There are insurgents coming in from everywhere.”
Charter asks that the American people be patient.
“The insurgents hope to wait out the American public who will get tired of the conflict and want to give up,” Charter said. “If we do that, they win.” |
Seems we've heard this strategy before. Seems I even remember a Senator and failed Presidential Candidate supporting this very strategy, for our enemy! |
