Impeachment is only a formal accusation. It's a lot like an indictment by a grand jury. It simply means that they think that is enough evidence to have a trial. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

While I'll certainly concur with your analysis of both the motivation and the character of the current Democrat "leadership", let's be wary of painting an entire party with an extraordinarily large brush. I believe Pelosi may well be feeling the heat from a substantial number of moderate Democrats as well. |

I'm afraid Schadow's correct.
As to the succession any would be Veep would have to pass congress. Jerry Ford was the least threatening Republican the Dems could agree on. Big John Connelly was Nixon's first choice and a non-starter. Then came Nelson. Rocky was simpatico with the Dems and they liked the way he deeply rattled the conservatives. Unfortunately for the Dems, indignation over Rockefeller's appointment to Veep is what pushed Reagan into the '76 campaign. BTW Rummy, Cheney and GHW Bush were Ford's first 3 choices. _________________ "KILL ALL THE LAWYERS!"

Here's how it will work. Pelosi makes her pledge - meaning that she, personally and acting in her office, will not instigate impeachment. But if some other Democrat initiates the process, well who is she to stand in the way of the Democratic process. And of course, back room deals will orchestrate the whole show. |

um, yes, and then Nancy Pelosi is ONE HEARTBEAT away from the presidency. Can you imagine her as president? |
Hmmm. I'm starting to see the game plan of the Leftists.
In their loony minds they think they've already got enough to impeach Bush IF they can only get the majority in November.
But they sure don't want Cheney to become President.
So they now turn their guns on Cheney.
They want to see an indictment and conviction of Cheney.
Quote: | A Fresh Focus on Cheney
Newsweek, by Michael Isikoff
The role of Vice President Dick Cheney in the criminal case stemming from the outing of White House critic Joseph Wilson's CIA wife is likely to get fresh attention as a result of newly disclosed notes showing that Cheney personally asked whether Wilson had been sent by his wife on a "junket" to Africa.

They want a double whammy.
Impeach Bush, indict and convict Cheney. Voila--PRESIDENT PELOSI!!!
I'm thinking they and their willing accomplices in the press are going to throw all the muck they can at Cheney now. _________________ “I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress, and grow brave by reflection. ‘Tis the business of little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm, and whose conscience approves his conduct, will pursue his principles unto death.” (Thomas Paine, 1776) |
