Referring to Kate's posting, two above this. On another forum a long time, and very knowledgeable, actual CBO officer had this to way:
Quote: | As for weapons, i’m not sure how that will work. The National Guard that work on the border do not carry weapons. I asked them about this before and they said it is because we have a treaty with Mexico that does not allow them to carry weapons.
Clearly if the troops are going to go to the border, they should be armed. But how to get around the treaty with Mexico?
If they are not armed, they could simply act like Minutemen. With their helicopters and vehicles stationed along the border it would help to prevent aliens from crossing. With thier night vision goggles and their binoculars, they could report to the border patrol any aliens in the vacinity to round up and take into custody.
The difference being, the minutemen only report those that are crossing while the National Guard could actually assist the Border Patrol in taking the aliens into custody.
It will be interesting to see how this works out. |
So, there appears to be a little problem with a treaty with Mexico in this too. H-m-m-m, wonder why Shumer and Clinton didn't know this? Could it be that they're merely politically posturing? Nah! (and I've some beach front property in Omaha I'd like to sell...) |
