It's Sunday. It's Father's Day. Somewhere, two families will have been notified that their son or daughter or spouse is missing in action, taken by terrorists. I expect Al Jazeera is already preparing the video. This could be a rough one.

In a demonstration of his new position, al-Zarqawi's successor, Abu Hamza al-Muhajer, needed to prove that he can be as nasty and cruel as al-Zarqawi was.
Sadly, the two bodies recovered show signs of having been tortured and were apparently beheaded.

al-Muhajer needs killing !!!
I hope that there is a fresh $25 million reward for this bast@rd's demise. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

An uncle of Pfc Menchaca, one of the two killed, appears to be a rising star in the image of Sheehan. (Emphasis mine.)
Quote: | "The news is going to be heartbreaking for my family," Menchaca's uncle, Ken MacKenzie, told NBC's "Today" show.
He said the United States should have paid a ransom for the two soldiers from money seized from Saddam Hussein.
"I think the U.S. was too slow to react to this," MacKenzie said. "Because the U.S. did not have a plan in place, my nephew has paid with his life." |

All the right talking points. Kerry and Murtha will toast this soon.
But for now, the words of a hymn sung by the Cadet Glee Club of the USMA, West Point, at Ronald Reagan's funeral services seem more appropriate:
Quote: | To fallen soldiers let us sing,
Where no rockets fly and no bullets wing.
Our broken brothers let us bring
To the mansions of the Lord.
No more bleeding, no more fight,
No prayers pleading through the night.
Just divine embrace, eternal light
In the mansions of the Lord.
Where no mothers cry and no children weep,
We will stand and guard though the angels sleep.
And through the ages safely keep
The mansions of the Lord. |
Rest in peace, brothers.

I am utterly broken-hearted at this news. Their poor families - it's so much more difficult when someone you love has had a violent, criminal death - they must be in agony. I'm so sorry.
I pray that their suffering was short and their entrance into the presence of God swift.
Eternal rest give unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May the love of God and the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ bless us and console us and gently wipe every tear from our eyes: in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.

The evil of the enemy not withstanding....some nuances.
Under the SOP of the animals, the captivity of the soldiers would have been drug out for weeks for the propoganda effect. They must be on the run because they dispatched the two fairly quickly. It will be interesting to see if there is any video. If not I'm going to believe they died in a way that will not benefit the animals to publicize....no cowering, no pleading, no submission but with honor and defiance.
God Bless our Heros and curse the fools who excuse this animal behavior or try to justify it as being a reaction to our actions. |

That's beautiful.
Vengence belongs to the Lord but the responsibility to keep evil at bay as long as we're here belongs to us. I sure hope they find the scum who perpertrated this. And THIS is what's called an atrocity.
