|
|
No, in my surf past the blogs this morning I bypassed American Spectator
Thanks. Knowing Van and Adrian as I do, I am sure they took it in stride.
.............. ...............
......................... Van at the Texas Mini-reunion 2004 ............................
But the threat of harrassment by these nutcases does affect some more
than others. At least one Swifty has mentioned that he will most likely not
be attending the reunion in San Diego next year because he is not sure
what actions might be directed at Swiftys by the looneys that live there.
The main content of the American Spectator article is a vivid reminder that
the real deciding issue in the 2004 election was Kerry's character and his
attempts to supress freedom of speech. Not the specifics of what he did
or did not do during his few short months in Vietnam.
If you go back and review all the ads, written words and TV appearnces
made by the Swift Vets and POWs during 2004, this was the single and
most damning message repeated over and over about Kerry. And every
time that the Kerry campaign opened their mouths, they just verified that
what we were saying on that issue resounded with uncompromising and
undisputed "truth"
That attempts at speech suppression continues today, long after the issue
has been decided by the majority of voters in this country, is an indication
of how far off the deep end and "outside the mainstream" these people are.
Every one of the spokesmen for the Swift Vet and POW movement have
quietly disappeared back into their private lives. Every one of them
So it is sad that it has not dawned on the Kerry-onistas that the in-country
Vietnam part of the Senator's character flaws is past ancient history and
of interest only to them. The Democrats have already written Kerry off as
being a severe impediment to their goal of national political power. But,
as my friends who know Wade Sanders tell me, he and others just will not
give up the fantasy that Kerry will somehow be made a viable candidate in
2008 by "proving categorically with mathmatical precision" that the SBVFT
opinions were unfounded. Reminds me of Captain Queeg in the trial scene
of The Caine Mutiny. You can almost hear the balls clicking in their hands
What is unbelievable is the major effort still being made by the koolaiders
to attempt to conjure up alternatives to dispute the minute details of the
single SBVFT ad on Kerry's Vietnam service and that part of Unfit that most
of them have not even read. If you take the time to slog thru the multitude of
posts made in response to the recent articles by Kate Zernike, Tom Lipscomb
and Wade Sanders you find the same generalized and incoherent arguments
being made once again by Kerry defenders. Even Doug Reese is back at his
one trick pony exhibition about the VC teenager. The one aspect that the
SBVFT had no overiding problem with but which the drinkers keep stressing
as being a significant proof the "Swift Vets lied."
I was encouraged that several Swift Boat sailors spent a few minutes to
call BS to those who have trouble finding meaning in life other than the
rehashing of dead issues. Several Swiftys made posts in the marathon
comments to Wade Sanders' article: Attacks on John Kerry Discredited
It is time to get the message across to the anonymous harassers and the
die hard Kerry defenders that we are two years past their lost election and
it is time to move on .... in other words get a life
Best Regards ... Bob S

Thank you for a great post, RB! Your comments are right on target. And have you seen the amazing article written yesterday by Wade Sanders at Military.com titled "Skimming the Skimmer?" http://www.military.com/opinion/0,15202,103119_2,00.html |
