Apparently Larry Bailey over at BootMurtha.com went to the sources to set the record straight.
Good luck to Larry and all in their efforts to "Moot Murtha".
BTW, I sent a few $'s their way. Larry's support of SVPT and his own individual efforts against Kerry were steadfast and uncompromising. He deserves our support. |

Reminds me of grade school level diligence to details at work here.
Where do they get these people and why can't they do their jobs correctly?
I guess they just don't care and no one is bothering to check out the facts.
Our future in America is in for a very rough ride I'm afraid.
Monumental incompetence.

You are correct.
See this post from an information science guy.

Wow! Lots of big words and mostly over my head but I think what he said basically is that truth and objectivity has been abandonded and promoting the agenda has become the overriding principle and that lack of information can't be used as an excuse for getting it wrong.
At least as it pertains to the paper written by Stephen Walt and John Mearsheimer that was pretty effectively dissected in this article.
And I might add this loss of objectivity and truth in order to promote an agenda is becoming all pervasive in American society. Certainly in our news media. As if we here didn't already know that right?
Sometimes I have a propensity to state the obvious. hehe

I think the article is also saying that our MSM buffoons will have an increasingly harder time getting away with it thanks to the new information technologies.
This Swiftvets site and the fact-checking and communication that it stimulated is an example.

And now the Globe (who else?) feeds the disinformation campaign. Larry Bailey must REALLY have them worried...(emphasis mine)
Quote: | Republican activists take aim at Murtha reelection bid
Echo tactics used against Kerry in '04
By Bryan Bender, Globe Staff | August 5, 2006
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. -- His depiction in the recruiting flyer mailed to members of the American Legion leaves little room for interpretation: congressman John Murtha, scowling and wrinkled, juxtaposed against the now-famous image of a young John Kerry testifying before Congress in 1971 about alleged US atrocities committed in Vietnam.
The flyer, seeking veterans to help work against Murtha's reelection, is part of a ``Boot Murtha" campaign launched this week by Vets for the Truth, a pro-Republican activist group that supports the Iraq war. The group wants Murtha, a former Marine colonel who served in Vietnam, defeated for his blunt criticism of the war and his call to withdraw US troops.
Some of the group's members, however, were part of a similar campaign against Kerry during his 2004 Democratic presidential campaign against President Bush. Calling themselves Swift Boat Veterans for the Truth, they boldly attacked the Massachusetts senator, accusing him of lying about his combat record in Vietnam and condemning him for claiming to have seen US troops commit war crimes while he was there.
