|

ABC News this morning quotes the former owners of the five-acre parcel of Crawford land as saying Sheehan posed as a Katrina victim when laying down approximately $50K for the purchase. The owners say they were duped.
Why am I not surprised? Another spin in the grave for son Casey.

I heard that last week. Sheehan had someone else buy it for her...then resell it to her. Not sure that really matters tho....
they consider lying a part of their 1st amendment rights...

Here's more on the story from the Boston Globe of July 30, confirming the deception angle. The story is entitled, "Sheehan land purchase for protests irks Texas town":
Quote: |
<snip>
Gerry Fonseca, a Vietnam veteran who attended the [ed: antiwar] protests in August and April, returned to Crawford in June to help the group look for property.
Fonseca said he doubts that any Crawford landowner would have sold to Sheehan or other protesters, so he didn't reveal his connection. Fonseca, who lost his Slidell, La., home in Hurricane Katrina, told sellers about that part of his life and that he wanted to build.
He bought the $52,500 lot in mid-July, using insurance money that Sheehan received after her oldest son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004.
The lot is a tenth of a mile from a small "Welcome to Crawford" billboard featuring a picture of Bush, smiling with his hand in a thumbs-up sign, and his wife. It is more than 7 miles from Bush's ranch. "This is close enough. We're still protesting in the community that he chose to live in," Fonseca said.
Sheehan said that when the camp is no longer needed, she plans to donate the land to the city for a park to be named Specialist Casey Sheehan Memorial Peace Park. Sheehan said it would have a playground, because "Casey loved children and peace." |

I'm sure that Casey would have loved peace with honor more. The shame of this woman is unparalleled.

These people think that they can just say and do anything they want and their opposition will just hide under a rock somewhere. They are in for a big suprise because all property is subject to zoning laws which can be changed by a vote of the various boards and the city council. The intended use of this property is not "for protesting" and would violate the zoning ordinance. Sheehan could apply for a "Conditional Use Permit" but I doubt it would be granted.
Here's an easy illustration of what I am talking about. Let's say that the lot is zoned for residential use and Shehan wants to build a billboard. That would require a permit from the City which would be denied for sure.
Let's say the lot is zoned commercial and Shehan puts up a sign for her new "Hate America" business operation. The size of the sign would depend on the square footage of the building and would be required to placed at ground level. If there is no building, then there can be so sign.
One last little item would be the nuisance laws. Pretty much everywhere that Shehan visits creates a nuisance in my opinion.
I can't wait until these morons get what's coming to them. Most of these dimwits have probably never even owned property and have no idea the stupidity of their Crawford purchase is going to turn out to be.
