I am sure you will get your share of trolls so I will not try to be one.
My situation. Old Military family. I am the first to break the line as my two granfathers (both combat vets) made me promise to not sign up for Viet Nam. They didn't like the feel of the war or that attitudes of the goverment at the time. That is a tiny bit of a long story(Note: I was also to young to serve at the time).
I am not a fan of the President for economic reasons, environmental reasons, and medical reasons.
I am not a follower of the Senator but I lean in his camp.
Let's not get into a Bush vs. Kerry thing.
Soooooo
Questions:
1) The fellow who made the claim of treating Kerry for his wound. What type of wound was it? He says it was not bad but what does that mean? Was it a simple cut? A bullet hole? Shrapnal? "It was nothing" is hard to gage as one of my great-uncles had the nastiest looking scare on his shoulder. If you asked him about it "It was nothing"
2) There seems to be a claim as he was unfit for command. Why weren't there any complaints filed? A fool in your situation would only get the boat killed. So were there any complaints or charges filed?
3) The protest stuff. I admit I have not seen his comments so if anyboy has links to a "clean" source.
4) As to the claims of atrocities; if they were brazen lies, why didn't anybody file slander against him?
5) I saw in the faq the main guys for this site, will not open their records for review. Why not? If your records are clean, you are decorated and basically look like model soldiers, would that not add weight to your cause?
6) I can understand the resentment for the claims but why do you defend that war? A buddy was a Ranger and he did two tours. He has "baggage" to this day and he feels that he was not allowed to win. The goverment treated the Nam veterns bad, many americans treated the Nam vets bad. I am curious to the hostility?
7) The gentleman who was the gunner and spoke against the Rassman affair. How could he watch the situtation if there was a firefight. Was there one? If there was not, then why didn't people file complaint about falsification of an action?
Well that is all I can think of at the moment.
Again gentlemen, I am not trying to troll. I am not part of the Democratic party, here to cause trouble. I am simply Joe Nobody who had some questions. Also, I don't view the Senator as a war hero.
Finally, I asked that if possible, the vets on the boats answer these questions. I understand their other other vets...
Also, please lets not turn this into a Bush sucks/Kerry sucks/Liberal pinko/Consertave nutjob bender.
Finally to all Nam Vets that read this. I thank you for your service. I mean it. I think you got screwed for your sacrifices. It was a messed up war. |

Curious...
Welcome to the forum.
Appreciate the "prep" but you won't hear "TROLL" shouts directed towards honest inquiries or even against Kerry support as long as it's civil.
There's a wealth of information in these threads and I suggest you try the "search" function for some material you might be interested in. Most of your questions have been addressed at one time or another already.
I'm not sure what time it is where you are, but it's the wee hours where I am and it's been a long day. I'm confident someone will address a few of your questions as the forum starts it's day. |

I am not a Vet so I don't speak with that authority, however I was "alive" during Viet Nam and the truth is, we did win that war.....over there. Where the war was lost was at home, due to the actions of the likes of John Kerry. The peacenicks played the same game they are playing now and I am convinced that they were in the hip pocket of the enemy just as they are now.
Back then they were communists, a cousin of socialists and a critique of the leftist agenda has socialist written all over it, but now they like to call it "Progressive". |

quest#1
From: Unfit for Command, Chap3
The truth is that at the time of this incident Kerry was an officer in command (OinC) under training, aboard the skimmer using the call sign “Robin” on the operation, with now-Rear Admiral William Schachte using the call sign “Batman,” who was also on the skimmer. After Kerry’s M-16 jammed, Kerry picked up an M-79 grenade launcher and fired a grenade too close, causing a tiny piece of shrapnel (one to two centimeters) to barely stick in his arm. Schachte berated Kerry for almost putting someone’s eye out. There was no hostile fire of any kind, nor did Kerry on the way back mention to PCF OinC Mike Voss, who commanded the PCF that had towed the skimmer, that he was wounded. There was no report of any hostile fire that day (as would be required), nor do the records at Cam Ranh Bay reveal any such hostile fire. No other records reflect any hostile fire. There is also no casualty report, as would have been required had there actually been a casualty.
Following “the most frightening night” of his life, to the surprise of both Schachte and the treating doctor, Louis Letson, Kerry managed to keep the tiny hanging fragment barely embedded in his arm until he arrived at sickbay a number of miles away and a considerable time later, where he was examined by Dr. Letson. Dr. Letson, who has never forgotten the experience, reported it to his Democratic county chairman early in the 2004 primary campaign. When Kerry appeared at sickbay, Dr. Letson asked, “Why are you here?” in surprise, observing Kerry’s unimpressive scratch. Kerry answered, “I’ve been wounded by hostile fire.” Accompanying crewmen then told Dr. Letson that Kerry had wounded himself. Dr. Letson used tweezers to remove the tiny fragment, which he identified as shrapnel like that from an M-79 (not from a rifle bullet, etc.), and put a small bandage on Kerry’s arm. The following morning Kerry appeared at the office of Coastal Division 14 Commander Grant Hibbard and applied for the Purple Heart. Hibbard, who had learned from Schachte of the absence of hostile fire and self-infliction of the “wound” by Kerry himself, looked down at the tiny scratch (which he said was smaller than a rose thorn *****) and turned down the award since there was no hostile fire.13 _________________ .

Personally, I think one of the best clean sources about answering accusations are being witheld from everyone. Kerry could quite easily discredit the claims, if they are truly false, by simply authorizing the release of his full military records.
If there's nothing damaging in his records, open up all the rest for everyone to see. If there is damaging information, keep hiding them away. _________________ Clark County Conservative |
