US Army/TXARNG
Armor Officer 1990-2000
49th AD

Did some time on the M60-A3, but spent most of my years playing with the M1 and M1-A1 tanks on the weekends.

USAF, 1976-1996

Spent 15 years out of the 20 in intel, did a five-year tour in Arizona as an administrative specialist.

1976--basic training, technical training
1977-June 1978--6920th Electronic Security Group, Misawa Air Base, Japan
1978-Dec 1983--82nd Air Base Group, Williams AFB, AZ (Closed)
1983-Aug 1991--DODJOCC, 6950th Electronic Security Group, RAF Chicksands, United Kingdom (Closed)
1991-Nov 1993--Rosman Research Station, Rosman, NC (Closed)
1993-Dec 1995--693rd IS, Misawa Air Base, Japan
1995-Apr 1996--32nd IS, Fort GG Meade, MD

As a former intel weenie, I must say that most of those in congress who serve on various intel committees are hacks--they don't know half of what they're talking about and they play politics with our national security. 'Nuff said. I've been a member of this blog for a few months; I searched this forum and didn't see a prior post from myself. I can prove my military service, if necessary, but my DD214 is my private record. I did not, however, throw my, nor did I throw anyone else's, medals/ribbons away.

SwiftVets rock!

When Lerch and Jane were doing their "thang". I was in Bien Hua with the 1st Air Cav,'71-'72. NVA Regulars pushed down to only 40-50 miles from our perimeter. Then seemed to suddenly stop advance in April 1972, Paris Pow-Wow perhaps!? Trying to make it in the aviation world, today. Still can not understand how one person can be awarded 5 medals in 4 months? God bless this organization!

I was in the Army from September 1965 until November 1967. I served in a place called Cu Chi with the 25th I.D from April 66 to February 67. I was a rifleman in B Company, 4th Batallion, 23rd Infantry. I was wounded in a firefight on May 18, 1966 and spent three months in the hospital then was returned to active duty. I spent the remainder of my time in Viet Nam as an infantryman. I support the Swift Boat Vets and what they stand for.

I have held off until now because I did not serve on PCFs but on Army LCUs.
I arrived incountry in October 1966. I joined the Army’s 329th Transportation Company (Heavy Boat) in March of 1967. I extended my tour and left in May of 1968. We did have occasion to work with the PCFs. You all provided convoy escort twice - Coronado V in September of 1967 and again for a mission on or about 2 February 1968 to the Vinh Long area - and supplied fire support for us (LCU 1581) at Sau Huyenh in the first phase of the operations at Duc Pho North of Quin Nhon.
I stayed in the Army, retiring 2 July 1986.

ASPB: No, I didn't get a job with the agency, seems they didn't want signal analysts when I got out. I'm doing blue-collar work, office furniture. You know, cubicles? I'm gonna reapply for the Agency, or some intel work somewhere. I'm getting too old for the office furniture, bad back. It affects my golf game.

I still live in MD, have a few friends at NSA. My wife works for the government. Oops, I outed her. Quick, get me Joe Wilson; I wanna write a book! It'll start in Niger; I'll be looking for the yellowcake documents...

Spc. 4 Dixon Here,

US ARMY, D CO (Anti-Armor) 2/502 Inf Regt, 101st ABN (AASLT). Basic active service date, 3 Oct 01. ETS Date, 3 Oct 04 (sorry, no DD214 just yet).

Had the pleasure of a year in Iraq, 21 March 03-18 March 04.

I don’t know if you guys really want to hear what a 23 year old Iraq War Vet has to say, but I just want you to know that you guys are my hero’s. When it comes to truly sucking, Iraq pales in comparison to Vietnam.

Now, as for John “F” Kerry, words are not enough to explain the rage I hold for that man. He has truly betrayed all Veterans, past, present and future. There is no telling the number of lives lost because of his mouth, then and now.

Thank you for the chance to communicate with true American War Heroes, and for the chance to help in bring that lying Son-Of-A-B*&%! down.

New to site. Please excuse if this was not the place to post the following info. Don't have militarybackground to compare with the vets on this site, but I am a vet. I was a draftee. Entered US Army on Sepember 26, 1961 and was honorably discharged September 26, 1963. Went through now-defunct Fort Ord, CA for basic training (no advanced infantry). Stationed at 6th Army HQ, HQ Company Special Troops, AG Publications, Presidio of San Francisco (also now defunct), where I remained for the duration of my service. Got out when our Vietnam involvement was starting to ramp up. I am foursqaure behind Swift Boat vets for Truth. Also support GWB although I have reservations about some of his domestic policies, especially dealing the border and illegal alien amnesty by another name. But the choice between the president and John Kerry is not difficult to make.
