The 4 September issue of The Australian prints the story of Adam Yahiye Gadahn, the expat American-turned-jihadi who appeared with al Zawahiri on a tape urging American soldiers to lay down their arms and "surrender to the truth of Islam".

By now you've heard the story but the article from Oz brings up a strange CIA rule that I've never heard of. It's in bold in the following snip from the story:

Quote:
Gadahn delivers a lecture on Islam and the "errors" in Christianity and Judaism. He also says the US is losing the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and tells US soldiers they are fighting President George W. Bush's "crusades". "Instead of killing yourself for Bush ... why not surrender to the truth (of Islam), escape from the unbelieving army and join the winning side. Time is running out so make the right choice before it's too late," Gadahn says.

Zawahiri gives only a brief introduction to the video, calling on Americans to convert to Islam. "To the American people and the people of the West in general ... God sent his Prophet Mohammad with guidance and the religion of truth ... and sent him as a herald," he says.

The CIA said it had conducted a technical review on the video footage and concluded that the voice was Zawahiri's.

A CIA spokeswoman said the agency was not authorised to conduct such analysis on US citizens such as Gadahn.

Is this yet another gift to the paralysis of intelligence given to us by Jamie Gorelick, Janet Reno and Clinton Question

Tis true. The purview for investigating U.S. citizens is the FBI. I can't recall but I think that separation came about during the Carter administration circa 76,77. Along with quite a few other "protections".

More of the democrat line of thinking that this is all a law enforcement matter.

I don't think that there is much to investigate here, CIA or FBI or whatever.
Adam Yahiye Gadahn can be classified a traitor just on his public anti-American performances and the fact that he's joined the other side.
If we every catch this treasonous pile of donkey droppings, he should just be taken to the nearest wall and shot.

Buffalojack,

Lincoln would have had Adam Pearlman hanging from the nearest tree on the spot! We need a president today with that kind of spine....we may have one now, but he's hamstrung by the Colin Powells, Jamie Gorelicks, Tenets, (past performance, indicative of future performance), et al. A quick 'event' of some kind is desparately needed to help convince his base that he's who we elected...the guy we saw in NYC next to the fireman, holding a bull horn, on 9/12!
