Pretty good spin, but like you, I'm not sure I'm buyin' it. Seems where there's smoke there's fire, and lately, I've heard much about Google's bias.

Quoting from the Googlebombing link Tom2 provided.

Quote:
We don't condone the practice of googlebombing, or any other action that seeks to affect the integrity of our search results, but we're also reluctant to alter our results by hand in order to prevent such items from showing up. Pranks like this may be distracting to some, but they don't affect the overall quality of our search service, whose objectivity, as always, remains the core of our mission.

Seems to me that Googlebombing is exactly the time to go to 'hand altering' the results pages. If this practice doesn't affect the search results, just what exactly does Goole consider to be an altered search result.
This is the most B.S. answer I've ever seen someone come up with to cover their bias.
No more 'Google' for me.

Dusty

I was made aware of this a couple weeks ago. My son was checking his email and all the sudden hollered "Mom look at this!" A college friend had sent it to him, knowing he is Conservative and loves President Bush.
My son said this is disgusting, how can they do this?
I said yeah its disgusting, but that's Google for you. Probably ALgore had it done, you know he can't get over Bush winning 2000 election!

This is mighty weak!!!
I would love to get someone with the know-how to googlebomb
'mysogynist' or 'prevaricator' = Bill Clinton
or
'loser' = Al Gore.
Then see how reluctant Google is to alter that.

Hey, this could be fun. I'm sure you guys can think of googlebombs for sKerry and Hillary and all the stellar Leftists.

I try not to ever use google any more and this is one of the reasons. Their editorial bias is patently clear.

I try to use http://www.prolifesearch.com/ instead of google.

Anyway, what it will take is an overwhelming google-bombing by conservatives - we have to be willing to play these stupid games and engage in the same underhanded tactics as our opponents. If we have access to web space, we have to design our own pages specifically for the googlebots which will tip the heuristics in our favor.

At that point, I'm sure that the google folks would be only too happy to take pen in hand to reconstruct their indexes. Wink

The thing is, unlike the frothy-mouthed lefties who spend this much time and effort on confounding search engines and weighting polls.... we have lives! Smile Do we really want to get involved in this kind of tedium, or should we just quit using the service and try to make sure that they get relegated to the second place search engine?

There is another reason not to use Google. The results of a search are skewed toward whomever pays the most. Pay per click. And yes Click Fraud for those who do pay.

You might be looking for a bicycle repair shop and Google will put a Bicycle touring agency up front.

I still use Yahoo and get better results.

IMHO it's just a petty annoyance (except perhaps for those doing an actual search for "failure", which must number in at least the 10's Rolling Eyes ).

This is exactly why I do not use GOOGLE. George Bush number one on the list. That is not right. Evil or Very Mad

I use YAHOO. Type "Failure" in at YAHOO and this is what comes up here. I can live with that! Wink

Thanks for the heads up on ProLife Search Navy_Navy_Navy. I was unaware of this worthwhile search engine, but now I will use it definately.

I hope ya'all will check it out. Very kewl. Cool

During the 2004 campaign, the weekend polls showed sKerry gaining only to go backwards during the week. We always joked at the State Republican Headquarters that Democrats were home on Saturday nights without a date, feeling sorry for themselves, and answered their phones while Republicans were out having fun on weekends.
