Kerry : "war criminal" or "war hero"

Can't have it both ways.

John Kerry and War Crimes in Vietnam

He was in command of a Swift Boat
and ordered his men to do these things.
Listen to this 1971 audio clip in Kerry's own words.

LONG BEFORE THE '04 Election

Listen Here

http://www.streamload.com/jmstein77/Kerry2.mp3

John Kerry went before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in 1971
to accuse the United States military
of committing massive numbers of war crimes in Vietnam.

So my question is did Kerry lie about his "heroism" or the "atrocities" that he took part in?

Did he lie to his superiors in Dec 68 - March 69 to obtain his medals or did he lie in 1971?

And if he didn't lie then why didn't he report the crimes that he saw?

After all he was in command of a Swift Boat, not just a crew member following orders.

All John Kerry has to do is authorize the release of ALL of his military records.

OR admit that he lied in 1971.

Kerry made Vietnam the center of his campaign.
It's up to Kerry and Kerry only to set the record straight.
BEFORE NOV 2nd.

I spent 3yrs on a destroyer in the Navy from
'66-'69 as a Gunners Mate, GMG3. USS CORRY DD 817 '68-'69 Gulf of Tonkin Yacht Club Member.
http://www.uss-corry.com/
Home port was Norfolk Virginia and sailed with her in the North Atlantic,
Caribbean,(dealt with Cuban gunboats off of Havana in Jan '6Cool thru the Panama Canal, across the Pacific to Viet Nam and back.

I was there the same time Kerry was. I was there Oct'68-Apr'69 on the destroyer USS Corry DD-817 which supplied PCF's and PBR's and provided gunfire and gunfire support in North AND South Viet Nam.

My ship may have even supplied Kerry's boat in the Mekong Delta

Although there are many similarities between naval gunfire support
and Operation Sea Dragon (which ended Nov '6Cool, they differ in two important areas:

naval gunfire support is normally fired at the request of troops ashore,
while Sea Dragon's mission is the interdiction of supplies and destruction
of military targets; and naval gunfire support is always conducted in South Vietnam, while Sea Dragon missions are fired only above the demilitarized zone.

29 US Navy ships received gunfire from Viet Cong shore batteries.
My ship DID not get hit by the VC.

In Feb '69 my ship was part of Operation Bold Mariner which was the largest amphibious assault since Korea.

Don't forget, Kerry admitted to committing atrocities himself in a TV interview back then. One thing he claimed was that he used 50 caliber machine guns against innocent civilians, because it was the only weapon they were given. Yet, in all of his home movies showing his heroic acts, he is carrying an M-16.

Quote:
KERRY: There are all kinds of atrocities, and I would have to say that, yes, yes, I committed the same kind of atrocities as thousands of other soldiers have committed in that I took part in shootings in free fire zones. I conducted harassment and interdiction fire. I used 50 calibre machine guns, which we were granted and ordered to use, which were our only weapon against people. I took part in search and destroy missions, in the burning of villages. All of this is contrary to the laws of warfare, all of this is contrary to the Geneva Conventions and all of this is ordered as a matter of written established policy by the government of the United States from the top down...

Next point, where are these "written established policies?" Surely there are copies floating around somewhere.

Makes one wonder how many days of his 4 month "tour" were spent making his "Vietnam Vacation" movie?

The way I see it Kerry either lied in 71 or he is a war criminal.

The question I have is if Kerry becomes CinC, God forbid, will he remove all of the 50's currently being used in Afganistan and Iraq? Shocked

Will he forbid H&I fires? Confused
