Just wondering - is anyone planning on going to DC on March 17 to Defend the Wall? ANSWER and a bunch of other socialist/commie/[fill in the blank] groups are holding a march on the Pentagon, and starting their march at the Wall. Many of us are worried about vandalism (there is one report that some of the protestors are planning on throwing red paint on the Wall).
Regardless, veterans - Vietnam vets and veterans of other conflicts - as well as families consider the Wall a sacred place, and are offended that the protesters are planning on using the Wall for political purposes.
Rolling Thunder will be there, many ad hoc groups of vets and supporters will be there. And, I believe Larry Bailey will be there to prevent access by those who hate this country, and those who despise the military. _________________ Doc Ford

If the weather is not too cold, we will have our Swift Boat jackets on and our Swift Cap. The coats are a shiny dark blue so look for us. _________________ Terry Boone PCF 90

I will be there with four maybe five vets. All in our 50's.
I think everyone should bring enough cash to be bailed out just in case.
Those "peace protesters" can get violent sometimes. |

I am planning on a road trip out there for it. Depends on how my leg is doing but I can limp alongside powsmias maybe.
As I have never been there and live on a tight budget I will probably need to sleep in my van - does anyone know of any campgrounds near there? |

I plan to be there, along with a brother-in-law (a Vietnam era vet), my grandson-in-law ( an active duty Marine from Quantico) and possibly another Marine buddy of his. _________________ "In a word, I want an American character, that the powers of Europe may be convinced we act for ourselves and not for others; this, in my judgment, is the only way to be respected abroad and happy at home." --George Washington |

I had posted a short note about this event on a major ag magazine's forum on about March 3, I think that it was.
There were several commets, some good, some bad and etc when I last checked on it. Checked on it today and it was deleted! Some one got upset I guess and could not handle it, I guess. I will try again there with a different title.
The title was 17 March, 2007.
The entire contents of the post was this below:
17 March, 2007 may become known as a very important day.
There is supposed to be a anti-war protest march on this particular day in D. C.
The starting point is at the Constution Gardens near the Vietnam Memorial.
This location and the organization involved has triggered a response by more than a few Vietnam Veterans and Vietnam Veteran groups.
There is an website with more information about the Vietnam Vets response, know as The Gathering of Eagles, it is the following below.
http://www.gatheringofeagles.org/
Col. Bud Day, M.O.H. Vietnam POW 1967-73 had this to say about the event.
"I support the G O E 100%. I believe it is an idea whose time has come, and which offers a splendid opportunity for the silent majority of Vietnam Vets to speak their piece concerning those who have denigrated our service, and blackened our names.
It is clear that those same anti-war activists that put the South Vietnamese into a state of defeat, prison, torture, and separation from their families are attempting to once again launch the United States into a defeat in the Middle East.
It is incumbent on every red blooded American to vigorously protest this “cut and run” strategy, and further besmirchment of the good name of the American warriors. Stand fast for freedom, for victory, and for the future of the world." |

It seems apparent that either A.) The forum prefers not to entertain what may be considered politically divisive issues/opinions or B.) The forum management does not agree with your politics and doesn't intend to allow you the billboard.
Assuming you wish to continue your posting privileges there, perhaps a more prudent approach would be to inquire privately as to why your initial post was deleted. |

I'm so glad to hear that you all are planning to be at the WALL on the 17th! We plan to be there also. I hope there will be a lot of folks there because I think it is very important to protect the Vietnam memorial. These anti-war people got away with spray painting the Capital steps last time and we can not let them get away with it. I read on the Free Republic site that they recommend being there by 8 am to get there ahead of the main crowd. That's our intention. We are all getting the Gathering of Eagle armbands. |

I suspect that is option B at the moment. I have had similar problems in the past there. And I have gotten it straightened out in the past.
There is plenty of Bush Bashing there on that particular forum on that site. |
