I truely do not know what to think about this subject at all.
I have never been in the military.
I will say that it seems like in this particlular Iraq conflict, war or what ever you call it, the other side seems to not care about who else they kill as long as they are able to kill our troops.
Civilians of all kinds seem to be acceptable targets to them judging from the end results of various car bombs, sucide attacks and remote controlled mines in the roads and other places.
I am curious as to what the average Iraqi thinks about the troops doing the tapping to the jihadist?? I have not noticed any outcry from them about it??
A really good question would be for me anyway, if I can ask it properly, would not the jihadist do the same thing if they were also checking the rooms??
I hope that I was able to ask that one right. It seems a bit clumsy to me at the moment. |

The problem in Iraq is WE have to play by the rules, Geneva Convention, Rules of engagement, proper treatment of prisoners.
The enemy has no rules, no uniform to separate him from civilians,
fighting from hospitals and mosques?
It seems like our side has more reporters and cameramen than troops,
almost every move the troops make is recorded and shown to the American public on the "evening news" to prove how inhumane our troops are.
Some of the photos are even digitally edited to make our side look worst.
It's war, war is not pretty!
So maybe the democrats are right, it's impossible to win this war,
not as a "Made for TV, politically correct war!"
As long as the anti-war reporters are out there doing some of the dirty work for the enemy, it makes it almost impossible to win it.
The anti-war-anti-Bush media has prolonged this war long enough.
I say kick out the reporters and give our Armed Forces a change to fight the war their way, it would be all over in less than three months.
So if we loose this war, just like Viet Nam, we won’t have lost to the enemy,
We will have lost to the Democrats and their lackeys the American News Media.
God bless our President and our Armed Forces. |

tony54,
I doubt if 3 months would do it.
The Brits attempted a similar task in the early 1800s with the Thugees. The Thugs were a composite and perverted islamic/hindu cult dedicated to the belief that the earth was overpopulated and in need of culling. As a result each devoted follower was required to kill at least one non-believer per year. The Brits of India went after this task through rote extermination and embracing the public for information on identifying the cult members. It took them 60+ years and they weren't encumbered by PC police and a liberal press.
This war will take at least as long and probably longer.
Our problem is that the PC public isn't tolerant of protracted long term goals much less wars. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

How does one "fight" a "culture" whose very nature perceives itself as tasked by a deity to dominate and conquer the world? Change the culture and underlying ideology? Not in our lifetime, nor in the lifetime of many generations to come...even with a world-wide commitment and will to propagandize against it that would make a WW2 allied coalition pale in scope.
Let's face the facts...most of the world (and perhaps a sizable percentage of OUR OWN CONGRESS), while decrying Islamic radicalism, delights in the notion that the United States (spell that George Bush) is, at least for now, identified by the Islamists as their prime antagonist.
There is only one near-term (and by that we're talking decades not years) "solution" to the scourge of Islamic radicalism...attack the source of their sustenance...petro dollars.
Western energy independence is the greatest threat to Islamic domination. It's time we got on with that job. |

Me#1You#10,
You have hit the nail on the head.
There is no way to fight them head on with arms. We have too many liberals to contend with.
An economic battle would work though. The most difficult part of the problem will be rallying our own people to the task and carrying through to its end. _________________ Swift Boats - Qui Nhon (12/69-4/70), Cat Lo (4/70-5/70), Vung Tau (5/70-12/71) |

hmmmm,
Ordinarily, I'd have to agree with the Petro-solution....but, it ain't necessarily so, so I'll have to be a skeptic this time.
In my considered opinion, the Islamowacko will find a reason to attack the head of Satan for ANY reason at all. ie, cartoons, hollywood, capitalism, liberalism, justaboutany-ism at all. Nope,
don't trust him to hang up his guns when we solve our oil problem!
just my 2 cents
