Spartans, British Red Coats and US Marines
Someone once said to me ‘what a horrible position to be stuck on the front line of a British infantry formation’ during the 18th and 19th centuries. Nothing could be further from the truth though, as the British infantryman wanted a front position. More often than not the enemy would run at the sight of a British regiment. When the enemy did stick around long enough to fire their weapons it was often before the British were in range and after watching the British continue marching without pause upon their volley, would immediately lose nerve and run. The front line was in high demand. Although Napoleon gave the British soldier a worthy engagement, it was not until facing Americans that the British infantryman’s resolve was tested to its fullest. King George would have been wise to read Herodotus account of the Persian king Xerxes attempt to conquer Greece two millennia prior. Both the Persians and British went up against God fearing property owning free peoples. While the British fought admirably for King, up against the American who fought for family and land they stood no chance long term.
In 480 BC Xerxes commanded an army of 5 million and lost 50-75 thousand upon engagemen t of 300 Spartans with flank support of 7000 Greeks from city states other than Sparta. Although the nihilist cowards who engage our troops today in the Middle East use remote detonators as opposed to facing our troops, there is no doubt our US Marines would be up to the ‘Spartan’ task. While the left hopes and prays for the death of our Soldiers, Sailors and Marines and continually declares our defeat at the hands of this death cult, the US Marine without leftist bondage can and would give our enemy an ass whipping worthy of even King Leonidas royal guard.
300 US Marines versus all our enemies in the Middle East and the Marines would win handily given our home grown leftist enemy are defanged. It is important for our Nations survival that we continue the great tradition of disciplined warriors. We should be grateful and proud to have the US marines serving this country of ours.
Note: Regarding the recently released 300 about the great Battle at Thermopylae, it is very good other than a couple of grievances. The nudity and sex sconces were gratuitous and lowered the quality of an otherwise good story telling. The other gripe is with the screen time devoted to the legendary Spartan battle formations. The film makers show about 10 seconds of a tight formation then are like ‘ok enough of that boring crap’, now its time to show them running around in all their naked under wearing sword swinging glory.’ I happen to have loved the initial scene where it showed the Spartan ‘meat grinder’ formation. Great stuff! _________________ "An activist is the person who cleans up the water, not the one claiming its dirty."
