LOL ...more on these witnesses, and Camil of all people

Kerry must be sooo proud of his VVAW brothers

Quote:
JOE BANGERT
WSI Testified.. to the disembowlment and skinning of Vietnamese woman …by an American, after she was killed by ARVNs. Body was hung on a tree as a “warning” to other “gooks.” He further testifies to killing villagers-20 or more women, children, old men-- in helicopter assaults near Cam Lo, and of civilians shot without provocation along Highway 1 near Dong Ha in Oct. 1969

Like Kerry, traveled to Paris to meet with the No. Vietnamese & Viet Cong delegations. Bangert recalled the highlight for him was getting to sing "The Ballad of Ho Chi Minh" for the assembled guests. He boasts of having performed the ballad more than 1,000 times in public. Bangert wore a shirt for the occasion with the Viet Cong flag.

1997: “Bangert was one of three former VVAW members to pay tribute in Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh on his birthday. He joined Chuck Searcy and Eric Herter May 19– which was also the 30th anniversary of the founding of the VVAW.

SCOTT CAMIL
WSI Testified…Burning of villages with civilians in them, the cutting off of ears, cutting off of heads, torturing of prisoners, calling in of artillery on villages for games,.. women and children being massacred, CS gas used on people, ..tear-gassing people for fun.

Senate Ad Hoc Hearing for VVAW: “We were on a search & destroy operation & two Vietnamese,..killed by the Marines on the operation, had their heads cut off, & we put them on top of stakes & stuck them in the middle of the field.. We tortured our prisoners.

“Proposed “Phoenix Operation,”..Proposal would have called for a well-trained VVAW group in WDC to kidnap a U.S. Senator, Rep. or Gov’t. official to hold for ransom to pressure for ending of the war.”

At Nov 1971 meeting of VVAW in Kansas City where the VVAW debated killing members of Congress. Gerald Nicosia’s 2001 book “Home To War” reports that one of the key leaders of the VVAW, Scott Camil, “proposed the assassination of the most hard-core conservative members of Congress, as well as any other powerful, intractable opponents of the antiwar movement. “My plan was that, on the last day we would go into the (congressional) offices we would schedule the most hardcore hawks for last— and we would shoot them all,” Camil told the Oral History interviewer. “I was serious.” Camil was known to colleagues in the anti-war movement as “Scott the Assassin.”

JAN BARRY CRUMB
Helped organize (w/Fonda & others of the Citizens Commission of Inquiry (CCI)) the WSI in an attempt to link American policies to individual atrocity stories of veterans. He was a moderator at WSI in Detroit

STEPHEN NOETZEL
Nat’l. Vets Inquiry on US War Crimes in Vietnam, WDC (held by CCI*). “..There were field tables set up. They attached electrical wires to their wrists, necks, bottoms of their feet, & genitals. They asked them questions.. An American sergeant, Special Forces.., had a switch under the table that activated the electrical shock..”

WSI in Garden City, NY. ‘My Lai was no unusual occurrence.’ Noetzel told of the deaths of 12 Vietcong soldiers who were thrown from helicopters in 1963. He also spoke of an alleged Green Beret tactic of throwing prisoners of war into a room with a python to make them cooperative and also of electric shock equipment used on prisoners.”

In case you didn't know... Col Bud Day is a 'political activist', as attested to by defendants Kenneth J. Campbell and Jon Bjornson. And.... he supported Ronald Reagan of all people.

We, however, are ever thankful for these and their brethren 'politcal activists'.

from pg93 of 99pgs in the Feb 5, 2007 filing
Quote:
184. The Vietnam Veterans Legacy Foundation is comprised largely of participants in
the production of Stolen Honor and political activists. For example,

WLF president George "Bud" Day, during the 2004 campaign, compared Kerry to
Benedict Arnold and accused him of "outright perjury." Day endorsed Bush, served as an
official in Ronald Reagan’s 1984 presidential campaign, and campaigned for George
H.W. Bush in 1992.

¯ WLF vice president Kenneth Cordier made an appearance in Stolen Honor, appeared in
a television ad for anti-Kerry group "Swift Boat Veterans for Truth," was a member of
the Bush-Cheney ’04 National Veterans Steering Committee, was an appointee to a Bush
administration advisory committee, and served as vice chairman of Veterans for Bush-
Cheney ’00.

¯ VVLF board member Paul Galanti appeared in Stolen Honor to make false claims about
Vietnam veterans. He also appeared on Fox News programs with Sherwood to promote
Stolen Honor.

¯ WLF board member James Warner also appeared in Stolen Honor, where he seemed to
contradict his own previous statements about Kerry.

185. The Vietnam Veterans Legacy Foundation distributed copies of Stolen Honor,
despite knowledge of its fabricated content.

186. Defendants had probable cause to assert causes of action against the Vietnam
Veterans Legacy Foundation.

187. Sherwood’s professional reputation before any of Defendants’ conduct was as a
disgraced journalist whose ethics were for sale. Red, White & Blue’s reputation was as a vehicle
for Stolen Honor, a piece of political propaganda.

188. Sherwood and Red, White & Blue’s professional reputations suffered no damage
as a result of Defendants’ conduct.

Defendants’ Answer with New Matter to Plaintiffs’ Complaint

It looks to me like Campbell has reinstated his case against Sherwood and the VVLF...

http://fjdweb2.phila.gov/fjd/zk_fjd_public_qry_03.zp_dktrpt_frames?case_id=041002019

Didn't know you could do that but I guess you can. Wonder what's up wih this? Perhaps an attempt by Campbell to increase his bargaining position in the suit filed against him?

Well, it is now August 14th., 2007.

I have not seen any mention of this event anywhere. But would the MSM report on this trial unless the final result was in favor of Kerry's friends.

This things are not fast paced anyway, unlike Perry Mason and etc.

nothing new after this, as stated in above post
Quote:

Perhaps a hold up in setting a trial date may be related to Judge Jackson's comments about combining litigation..would they combine countersuits?

Yikes....thanks Kate. I failed to take a look at Sherwood et al v. Campbell and assumed it was coming along apace and that Campbell's case would be heard first.

Now we need some legal translation of this jargon.

It looks like Sherwood v. Campbell was "discontinued with predjudice" as per a letter from defendant's counsel, James Beasley. What the heck does that mean? Surely a defendant can't just elect to withdraw from a suit? Has Campbell just withdrawn any defense and submitted himself to summary judgement by the court?

Is there a lawyer out there? Beldar?

I'm not licensed in, or experienced with the procedures of, Pennsylvania. I took a look at the docket sheets for both cases and I frankly can't tell what's going on with either of them. The terminology is too different from what we use in Texas, where I practice.

Someone could call the clerk's office and ask how to go about getting a copy of Beasley's letter of 6/18/07. They may be able to send you a copy if you write them and include their fees for making the copy. That would be a good starting point to figure it all out.

Thanks for taking a look Beldar.

I dunno how anyone else reads this, but I'm under the impression that rulings appear to have been going against Sherwood of late...probably not good for the home team.

Well, it looks like Campbell's suit against Sherwood has been settled in pre-trial conference...

Quote:
21-AUG-2007
11:22 AM WSPTJ - SETTLED PRIOR TO ASSGN TRL JUD NEW, ARNOLD L
Docket Entry: BY LETTER OF AUGUST 21, 2007 FROM MAXWELL KENNERLY, ESQ.

This appears to be a quid pro quo for dueling lawsuits. Assuming that to be the terms of the "settlement" and as it was the the Kerry surrogates who initiated litigation, I feel comfortable declaring this one a win for our side though a judicial smackdown of Kerry would certainly have been preferred.

Sure isn't something the general public will ever know about.

I hope the Peter Paul trial coming up has better luck against the Hildebeast.
Still not hearing anything on the news about it.
