Good bye Grandpa,
My grandfather was born 11/27/1907 and died on 11/13/2007 two weeks shy of his 100th birthday. Outside my father he was the most influential man in my life. He owned a grocery store; he ministered to trouble youth, as a Hennepin County probation officer. He established a Christian Servicemen Center in Minneapolis during WWII were he comforted & fed the souls of sailors, soldiers, and airmen on leave or returning from war. He was a preacher who officiated over my wedding with my wife on Flag Day 1980. Never did a soul cross his path that he did not make an effort to share the good news of Jesus Christ, and that the death Jesus experienced on the cross paid the price of all sin past, present, and future. And that if we are just willing to confess our sin, that Jesus had already paid for with his death, we are forgiven, and will have a place with him for all eternity. _________________ Defender of the honor of those in harms way keeping us out of harms way.

Coldwarvet,
Grandpa certainly led a full and giving life, ministering to all those souls in the name of the Lord.
I am sure you miss him.
May the Lord comfort you in your loss.

Coldwarvet, my wife and I both extend our deepest sympathies.
Your grandpa sounds like a really good person. It was people as he that made America great. The world is better because of people like him.
You were very fortunate to have had him for so long. Hold the fond memories. _________________ Clark County Conservative |

Eternal rest grant on to him oh Lord and let perpetual life shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
Oh my Jesus forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of hell. Lead our souls to heaven especially those in the greatest need of Thy mercy. Amen |

CWVet,
My own and my families' sympathies to you and yours....He trully was a great man. Our grandparents of that era and area, (went to my own grandmother's 100th bday party a couple years ago) had great genes, and a healthy dose of common sense and wisdom we may have trouble replacing! My grandmother was from Mankato, MN so I think I've seen that of which you speak....we've had family reunions since 1946! Can't say I've made as many as I'd have wished, but was never a disappointment to be there, ever....always a rush. That much family is always sensory overload! I can imagine you may have been surrounded by a similar aura. Overwhelming Admiration is a great elixir! Glad he lived such a long and fruitful life...shame on missing the 100th...President Bush sent a really nice birthday card! (goes to all on their 100th). |

Thanks Deuce, yes my grandfather did receive his 100th BD card from President Bush post mortem. We had a big 100th birthday celebration planned for last Saturday 11/24. However we buried him early on the 24th instead, and carried on with the party as though he was still with us. Must have been 300 people. _________________ Defender of the honor of those in harms way keeping us out of harms way.
