These people still don't know who the Swifties are..........
Their paranoia drives them to see Swifties under every bed and in every closet.

The Swiftees, for them, have become the scapegoat for the unimaginable loss of their ability to shape the American conversation via the now-moribund MSM.
It DELIGHTS me no end everytime I read this "progressive" pap.
Swiftees, you're in their proverbial knickers... DEEP in their knickers.
Many thanks. |

I saw nasty Pelosi's Daughter on c-spann a few days ago, discussing her views on campaign stratageies. Guess what she used as an example?
yes your right ! John Kerry stating that he was a war hero & swift boaters saying no he was not & no response from Kerry. !! she showed a chart on the give & take & no response from kerry.
so my friends you are right , they see swifties behind every treee, under the bed & in the closet. _________________ Leeman

As demonstrated in the new book "To Set The Record Straight", Kerry most certainly did respond to the Swifties. Intensively and at length, marshalling every media ally he could.
The problem was, the Swift Vets' charges were true.
I remember the 2004 events well, and how Kerry supporter after supporter published angry memoirs whose facts and details almost always confirmed what the Swifties were saying. "Why didn't Kerry respond?!" is just what deluded Kerry supporters tell themselves, so they never have to face the real facts. |

Jack, it is a bit disconcerting to see a known conservative voice use the term. "IowaPresidentialWatch" is the antithesis of "left" in the political cartoon world. However, I think the intent is to demonstrate Kerry hypocrisy in the use of the term and disloyalty in his treatment of Edwards.
I'd be inclined to cut this one some slack, but I hear where you're coming from.
If the term does enter the conservative lexicon, the left has won its battle to smear the Swiftvets. It strikes me as a shortsighted demonstration of ingratitude, lack of respect and "...but what have you done for me lately".
Perhaps a polite note to that effect would hit home. |

#1#10,
I feel that at this point we have about as much chance of steering the general public meaning of "swift boat" away from a negative connotation as the Kleenex company did in trying to get people to use the term tissue so that they wouldn't lose their trademark status on the term Kleenex.

Perhaps so Jack but, at least in my travels, I don't think it is prevalent at all in conservative banter. To the contrary, I often see it identified as a descriptive peculiar to the left alone with an alternative "definition" often appended.
All you can do is make note of it when used and advise the author of your concern. Ain't much perhaps, but it's sumpin'. |
