Having been born into a military family, perhaps that skewed my perception of the world. Both of my grandfathers served in WWII, my father in Vietnam and now my brother in Iraq. Perhaps having been raised in an atmosphere that placed a higher value on trust, integrity & loyalty than on covering your ass at all costs, maybe that has left me at a disadvantage. I have trouble understanding how free americans, people who have the right to learn all they can about a person who is asking to lead them, I can not for the life of me understand how that very right can be tossed aside so gleefully. I can't understand how hundreds of thousands of people, whom if you were to talk to on a one ot one basis would most likely give the appearance of concern about their country, have definate views of what they envision as the brightest future for themselves, their children and the nation. How can those same people turn a blind eye to what seems to be the dirtiest word in the english language.

The truth

Yes, we all learned as kids that sometimes the truth hurts. Sometimes it isn't what we want to hear. But that truth is something that has to rule the day. That is something that as free Americans our forefathers fought and died to ensure we would have. The right to know. The right to ask. The right to question our government.

It just boggles the mind that you guys have presented, at great expense to your own privacy, the unvarnished truth and rather than it being investigated, looked into, judged on its own merits against the lies and distortions presented by someone running for the Presidency. Rather than anyone being allowed to raise a question that... hey.. this Kerry guy might not be telling it like it is..instead there are character attacks, more lies and more ridiculous assertions being raised as a smoke screen by the DNC, the Kerry campaign and the media in general.

And the American public, in general, are accepting this tripe they are being force fed. Accepting.. thats to mild of a term, they are eagerly lapping up whatever is fed to them, no longer the proud, defiantly questioning American, instead we seem to be turning into a nation of blind, mindless sheep

who happen to have voting rights

I can not even begin to express how proud I am of what you have done, and I can only hope you weather the storm of lies and slander that is being unleashed on you.

That is SO well written. I hope that you have printed it out and hand it to your children (if you have any) or to your Brother's children (if he has any) or keep it for them until they are 16 or something of that nature sort of a coming of age thing. I'm afraid the next generation will not understand the values as we do or why we hold them so dear.

I have a background similiar to yours. Both of my grandfathers were in WWII. One in the Coast Guard, One in the Army. My Paternal Grandfather in the Army did not make it home. KIA in New Guniea, 1943. My Dad was Navy 1st LT aboard an Amphibious Assault Ship (APA class) Vietnam 64-65, His twin brother was Army,Korea and in Vietnam (this is like the family military pedigree isn't it??) my uncle was heavily medaled as he was wounded several times ( in Korea). But as my dad said, "The Army just patched him up and sent him back out again.

I like your slogan and am trying to think of something to add to mine that will let my history speak as yours does. My dad, my uncle, my grandfather everyone who served except for my brother (he was a peace time Navy Vet but we are not at all close) are gone, so it would be nice to have a tag of rememberance of where I came from..
