Sgt Merlin German, the Marine dubbed the "Miracle Man" due to his determination in surviving a road side bombing and receiving burns over some 97% of his body, died April 11 after a routine surgery to place skin on his lip.

BAMC's 'Miracle Man' didn't let injuries hurt his spirit

America has lost a Hero and Warrior. God has gained an Honor Guard.

It will surely be of some comfort to his family and friends that Sgt. German's remarkable courage and spirit will continue to serve and to inspire those who will follow him. Would that we all might leave such a legacy.

Thank you Sgt. Merlin German and family for a life well-lived and may you rest in eternal peace.
