Seems Cindy McCain was also denied permission to visit wounded sailors recently, for the same reasons.

I haven't heard any squeaking or crying out of them.

According to your link, Lew, Cindy was denied because she was not a sitting Senator, but would have gained entrance if Senator McCain accompanied her. She wasn't granted permission, subsequently changing her mind about going. She just couldn't get in on her own.
