"Rumor has it" that Rep. John Murtha visited with Boeing Puget Sound employees during a tanker fact-finding trip....the irony. "Pro-military" John McCain kills a deal to allow Boeing, the company that INVENTED Air Refueling Tankers over 50 years ago, to build the next generation of Air Refueling Tankers to replace the aging KC-135s, and "Anti-military" John Murtha, who loathes and defames the military as much as Kerry, may be the one to make it happen. We are living in an upside world.....

TEWS, if John Murtha is pushing for Boeing to get the tanker contract, you can bet the mortgage that there is a Boeing sub-contractor in his PA district who will make a tidy profit on the deal.
He may not give a fig for the military, but he is a bear for bringing fed dollars home to his constituents.

I learned Murtha is also visiting Northrup/Grumman and pushing a "split sale". The Pentagon is dead set against such a foolhardy proposition. The logistics nightmares and millions of dollars in extra costs to maintain and deploy and schedule refuelings with two very different platforms would be a disaster.
