...that Kerry won't last into September. He'll withdraw from the campaign so that he can nurse his "put upon martyr" self image.
He's not the "go down swinging type" when there's no room to BS his way out, nor is he a gracious loser. But we already know he's a quitter.

I'm not too sure.
Even with the Swifties comments, I haven't seen that significant of a drop in the polls.
Much will be decided by the release of the book and the convention.
He won't drop out but if he looses I will buy you a cyber beer! |

I think he will only drop out if he goes into freefall in the polls. Then Edwards would be the substitute candidate. |

I can't see him dropping out, though man that would be a great gift. I have a feeling, as much of a coward and quitter as he is, his overinflated ego wouldn't permit him to drop out. Dropping out would be his admission that everything his opponants say about him is true, and like clinton refusing to step down no matter what, I can't see kerry doing that. I can see him taking a big fall though. He can't just keep ignoring the tens of thousands of Vietnam vets lined up against him, but send his laywers and fanatical drones to censor, threaten litigation, insult, and otherwise insult and dishonor the Vets. That won't work with the critical voters in swing states. Eventually, his total refusal to stand up and take a stand and fight on an issue will catch up with him. Indecisiveness is something that this country cannot suffer now, not after 9-11, and more peple understand that than do not. |

I agree, he is far too much the narcissist (perhaps even in the clinical sense) to concede defeat for any such thing as the "good of the party," much less "the good of the COUNTRY." _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

I agree Navy. How he even had the gall to run for the highest office knowing that all his lies would eventually be exposed shows his personality. Their only hope is that the mass media won't play this story.
Too bad, because after a certain point they are going to have to. |

My feeling is that he'd do it for the good of John Kerry to be sympathized. To be poor John the martyr. Right now it's the only rat-hole left.

McCloud,
I think Kerry believed that his record would not be questioned. |

I suggest you use the search function at the top of the page to look for "kerry AND oath".
It's been discussed elsewhere ad infinitum. _________________ Bye bye, Boston Straggler! |

Kerry is too much of an ego maniac to drop out. If the tv spot and the book had hit earlier in the race, then he probably would have been replaced during the convention. Instead, look for him to start playing sympathy card (poor old me, being attacked for no good reason ). They have already (obviously) told his wife to shut up and Edwards is not being heard from very often for a reason too. Overall, this is going to take that 10% or so of 'undecided' voters. |

Perhaps he will drop out on the grounds of 'ill health' because of his 'war wounds'? _________________ Steve. |

The Dems do not care what Kerry did or did not do. For them it is anyone but Bush. They are shameless liars. Ken _________________ VAW13 Det-66 WES-PAC 66 ADJ-2 USS America. |
