[quote="somewhereinthemiddle"]this is all so sickening
i find it incensing that the question of where kerry was 40 years ago is overshadowing the fact that iraq is progressively getting worse and worse.
Wow, somewhereinthemiddle. You seem to feel strongly about the media not staying on topic. I guess that could be a good thing, however you may have missed the point. Should Kerry be allowed to pull off his lies about being the commander-in-chief and it actually happening - then nothing happening in Iraq will be worthy of news. Kerry says he will pull the troops out (broadcasting it to all the bad guys). How many more will die because he is an idiot and doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut about military matters? Now when Kerry pulls our troops out completely from Iraq then all those great men and women will have sacrificed for what?
It's okay that you feel the topic should be on the war - I agree. Our media is fickle. Deal with it. It should make you sick that more airtime is played on Kobey, Peterson and Hacking then any other news headlines at this time. _________________ Working with Senator Kerry four years in the POW/MIA Office left me thinking -- when did the man ever do any work? |

Think of it like this:
If, on a given day, there were three assassinations in Brooklyn, heavy small-arms fighting in the Bronx, and a car bomb in Queens, would you say that the city is in disarray or would you claim that everything is fine because Wall Street is open and a third-grade class on 42nd street got a 90 on their math exam? I don't see that logic. Despite all the bravery, resiliance, and ingenuity of our Marines and groundpounders, politicians such as Jerry Bremer have irreparably damaged the chances for ANY favorable outcome in Iraq. No serious observer of the war effort claims things are going well, conservative or liberal. This war is not about gaining or losing physical territory (which our warriors are tasked with), but gaining or losing political legitimacy and viability (which our politicians are tasked with).
We could just loop back and forth on this topic, but I've been informed that it's not appropriate for this board. I believe events will vindicate my position, and I'll let them speak for me in the next months. Or you could read "Imperial Hubris", a book that singlehandedly changed my opinion on the War on Terror. |
Halt, who goes there?
I call Troll alert. Attempt to paint the Iraq War as Vietnam-like quagmire.
I been there, you haven't. You are merely parroting the leftist line about failure when people are free for the first time in 30 years. _________________ Iraqi Freedom 2003-2004. We won't take any of that 1960s crap when We come home! |

I'm only giving my opinion, I never claimed fact. Yet, in as much as you would like to pidgeonhole me, yes, I do believe that Iraq is a quagmire. July was the fourth most deadly month for US troops in 15 months, and if the casualty rate continues at this rate, August is looking to be even worse.
I am not a "leftist", sir. I am an American patriot who tries to see the world through the lens of truth, not political ideology. |

Quagmire!??
We're kicking major butt, just in case you aren't paying attention - we're killing major numbers of bad guys and our guys are building and rebuilding an entire country - all while under terrorist attacks and being shot at!
How long were we still in Japan or Germany after WWII? How long were we in Vietnam? How long have we been in Korea?
Get some perspective, man! _________________ ~ Echo Juliet ~

The History Revisionist...somewhereinthemiddle should change the moniker to somewhereovertherainbow
Can you at least wait till Iraq is history before you do the left wing revisioning.
GEE! I'm watching the Najaf battle. No QUAG there. The free Iraqis seem to be kicking Moqtada's butt.
It's lamentable that any American blood needs to be shed to liberate Iraq...but it's our own fault for having discovered DEMOCRACY and LIBERTY. Now everyone wants it...except the bad guys and left wing elitist types. _________________
