For informational purposes only! Very Happy

Why Kerry Is Fit to Be President
By Bob Kerrey
Saturday, August 14, 2004; Page A21

The former Navy personnel who are attempting to discredit Sen. John Kerry's record of service in Vietnam are doing so to argue that he is unqualified to be commander in chief. Most appear to be angry with him on account of his opposition to the Vietnam War, not his service in it. They have done a better job of damaging the reputation of the U.S. Navy than they have of damaging John Kerry.

Moreover, they ignore what I consider to be the most important qualities any commander in chief must possess. If elected in November, John Kerry will make an exceptionally good commander in chief.

Citizens may disagree with every other position he has taken in this campaign or they may dislike the legislation he enacted during his nearly two decades of service in the U.S. Senate. But they should have no doubt about his capacity to perform the duties of commander in chief.

(continued here...)

May I suggest you change your title to replace "attempts to stick" with "sticks"?

The readers can judge for themselves whether he attempted or succeeded.

I'd trust Bob Kerrey only as far as I could throw him. Evil or Very Mad

He helped turn that 911 Commission into a complete mockery of an investigation - a kangaroo court and three-ring-circus.

BC,

My wife always registers Independent, so she can vote in whatever primary she wants. That may not work where you live, but remember this:

You can vote for anybody you want in each election. Even if you're registered as a Democrat.

So, vote your conscience, and register with your Party.

I know nothing of bob kerrey's history, but his conduct in the 911 commission hearings were blatantly bias.

I can relate with you BC. Things have really changed in my party and I cant honestly tell you the last time I voted for my party. Seems they have turned into control freaks. Regardless of the consequences. But as far as Bob Kerry, he did try to make the 9/11 hearing political. I am just grateful that the Chair and Co Chair didnt let it happen. I could add some more of my opinion to this but I it would be too political.

Most Democrats are OK. I have lots of Dem friend who don't like Kerry. I just think that the Democratic Party has been hijacked by a group of liberals so far left that Marx and Lenin almost look rightwing by comparison. The real Democrats need to retake control of their party from this group. They don't actually stand for anything, they only know how to oppose something and make everyone else suffer in the process.

It would be interesting to see how many former Democrats or in my opinions are here, (Because, here in WV, there are Democrats that REALLY Republicans..they just don't know it. Why, you may ask but because they have worked under a union and daddy has worked under a union, and their daddy has worked under a union and has ALWAYS registered as DEmocrat and not questioned it.). What would really pique my curiousity is how many former leftist/ libs/markist/socialist whacko were "converted" (saw the light) to conservertism aka normal thinkers

My father and mother were Republicans. I chose to be a Republican not because they were because but it best suited my ideology on what the USA should be. I went to a public school system with some pretty wild and crazy teachers, one I would consider a "hippy" (my math teacher) , The world seem to be self destructing, with the protests, the Timothy O'Leary types, and to me, the Democratic party seem to be fanning the flames encouraging anachry (sp?) Shocked

NavyBrat, both sides of my family come from Fairmont so I've spent lots of time in your state. A big problem there is that much of the WV would implode economically if not for the superior pork-gathering abilities of Robert "Sheets" Byrd. It must really stink to be a Republican and know that you can't not vote for the guy if you want WV to survive Sad

HI hank,

I'm not FROM this state, just moved here 8 years ago.
I was born in CAlifornia!

yep, Byrd has made WV into Welfare Virginia. We never hear of Jay Rockefellow until election tiime rollls around. No one wants to run against these guys. It's pitiful. I saw on one of those Pork Barrel sites (political) that Byrd spent federal ( i believe) money to have a statue made in his honor erected in Charleston. It isn't enough that is name is on every building here in Huntington and probably in Charleston to remember him by , but now we have to have a statue up WHILE HE IS STILL ALIVE. My understanding that sort of thing is done after someone is dead and gone!!! E-G-O That is why they made his the PORK BARREL KING Of all time!! Quite an honor don't you think?
